Didn’t know what else to title this 😂 and sorry if this is a gross thread but I’m 33 weeks pregnant and noticed that things are really starting to look ‘different’ down below. Much more swollen and dangly :( no nicer way of putting it. Is this common and will everything go back to normal eventually?

I didn't have this first time but my sister had in October with her first and it got quite sore even to wear underwear- baby came very soon after she mentioned it!!

Crapbags · 30/01/2019 21:47

😂sorry to laugh😂 but I know exactly what your talking about and I’m pleased to say that yes it does all go back to ‘normal’ and in my experience remarkably quickly! I had my third DC 9 months ago and not sure why but with that pregnancy it seemed much noticeable (not even sure if I remember it from pregnancy 1 or 2). I think within 2-3 weeks mine felt almost back to normal and DC3 was fairly big at 9-4lb😱.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy:)

You’re talking about* gah

29+4 here - had to shave my bikini line with a mirror yesterday and was really shocked at how much it had changed, and also how dark it suddenly is BlushBlush

letsdothis123 · 30/01/2019 23:10

Same here. Swollen, irritated and just generally uncomfortable. Battle through lady, we'll get there x

AssassinatedBeauty · 30/01/2019 23:17

I don't think your vagina is meant to be dangling? That sounds like some kind of prolapse, but I don't think that's possible when you're still pregnant?

hevenly123 · 31/01/2019 02:28

I know exactly what you’re talking about...I’m currently over due with my third and on my list of things to look forward to when no longer pregnant is going back to ‘normal’. It did after my first two. Please lord let it do so again.
When pregnant I have varicose veins there, swelling and general discomfort. It’s not something you hear discussed much but I know we’re not alone! I’m a fit, active person who’s always conscientious regarding pelvic floor exercises so I think it’s just bad luck? And a sensitivity to extra pressure/blood volume etc!

PRoseLegend · 31/01/2019 02:41

I had varicose veins and it all looked much more swollen and darker than usual.
I'm now 7 weeks postpartum, had some tearing and stitches but everything has healed up nicely, the varicose veins have gone, and it's gone back to the normal colour.

Gobletoffire · 31/01/2019 06:58

Thanks everyone. Yes mine has definitely darkened in colour as well, dangly was probably the wrong word to use, definitely no prolapse yet but everything is certainly more swollen, bigger and ‘fleshy’ Confused just another wonderful pregnancy symptom then, thanks for all your reassurance x

Don't worry. No one actually thinks you've prolapsed. It's just the pedantic MN brigade who are desperate to tell women they don't actually mean vagina, they mean vulva to describe the external parts. Seriously people, get a life. It may not be biologically correct but it's extremely common vernacular and everyone knows what she means because most of us say the same. Biscuit

Also - I'm 32 weeks and wiping after a wee feels like sandpaper Shock

Pray for our fannies!

mrsed1987 · 31/01/2019 09:46

I also noticed this from about 35 weeks, 2 weeks pp seems all ok now!

SlimGin · 31/01/2019 17:51

Yes I had these changes in size and colour but returned back to normal soon after. So many things people don't tell you!

Honeybee79 · 31/01/2019 18:37

I noticed a change in colour too and got some shocking varicose veins. Had my dd 3 weeks ago and all back to normal now.

Sexnotgender · 31/01/2019 18:40

Another pregnancy treat that no one warns you about!

MissMoodyMoo · 31/01/2019 20:04

I can't even wear knickers! It's so sensitive and swollen!! My midwife commented on my lack of knickers yesterday and i just said I'm 35 weeks I can barely stand wearing trousers never mind knickers!!

Gobletoffire · 31/01/2019 21:23

I’m very glad to know I’m not alone in this! X

I'm 39 weeks and my labia and surrounding area feel so heavy and swollen. DP says it doesn't look any different down there, but he's probably just being polite (or has forgotten what it used to look like Grin )

IdblowJonSnow · 01/02/2019 13:27

I don't remember this but probably didn't look! Had lots of other gorgeous symptoms.

DC3dilemma · 01/02/2019 13:33

I remember joking to the midwife that I needed some sort of vulval bra. So bad by 40w with my 3rd, I don’t think I could cope with a 4th!

legalseagull · 04/02/2019 09:26

@DC3dilemma that cracked me up!

I haven't had sex in weeks. It'll either be amazing or horrific with my swollen bits!
