Am I right to be anxious?

Hi All!

I'm new here so hoping somebody can help me.

My husband and I have been TTC for just over a year and on Monday we delightedly discovered that I'm pregnant. According to the date of my last period I should be just over 6 weeks pregnant. I took 2 home pregnancy tests, 1 regular and 1 digital which were both positive.

I went to my GP who simply told me someone would be in touch within 3-4 weeks to arrange a booking in appointment and scan. However they did no further pregnancy test whilst I was there, but just sent me on my way. I'm sure this is completely normal, but I can't help feeling really anxious and that this news might somehow be too good to be true until somebody else confirms it. Has anybody else felt the same? I'm assuming 2 positive pregnancy tests are very unlikely to both have been wrong.

I've booked to go privately for an early scan at 8 weeks just so I can put my mind at rest. Would be great to know other expectant mums have gone through the same feelings!

This is normal procedure so don't be alarmed. Try to relax and enjoy the road ahead of you, congrats :)

GP's don't do pregnancy tests as routine anymore.
If you have a positive test then that's great! Congratulations.
Easier said than done but try to relax a bit and enjoy it.

I had the same thing! But don't worry if it is positive it is positive. I hope your scan goes well.

Congratulations on your lovely news. I think everywhere has slightly different procedures. So I called to notify the doctors, who then booked me in with the midwife around 8 weeks, I had my 12 week scan letter through the post with plenty of notice. No one has done a test to verify I'm pregnant, think it's cos the home tests are so accurate now.
I had private scans early for reassurance as well, in fact I've had a couple. Well worth the money to put your mind at ease xxx

I felt the same; I was slightly relieved when I started getting sickness as I felt pregnant
