Hello, thank you for reading my question/thread. On New Year’s Eve we revived the most heartbreaking news, at what should of been our 12 dating scan we found out that our peanut had stopped growing at 8 weeks and 5 days and had no heartbeat. We were devastated. I decided to opt for a D&C as I couldn’t cope with letting things happen naturally. Just before the procedure I was asked if I’d like the Fetus testing, I decided to agree to this. Having not heard anything back from this I rang the doctors yesterday and they explained if I wish to check the results I have to make an appointment as they can’t discuss it over the phone... I just wondered has anyone else had this done? What information do you find out ?! I’m worried about just bringing the heartache back as I just seem to be “getting over it” but am keen to know what could be found out.

Thank you

Haven't had this experience but didn't want to read and run OP. So sorry for yours and partners loss.

I think I would go to the appointment as you might find something out which could impact future pregnancies x

I'd do it as if there are any genetic problems they will have been detected and that's info worth having for your future attempts. I also had the testing done when I had a MMC back in 2010 and got the results in a letter from the hospital, but procedures may have changed since then. Flowers for you and don't give up.

Thank you. I agree it’s probably a good idea to go and find out. how long did it take for the letter to arrive by post? It has been 4 weeks since my D&C. What information did you get ? Just the genetic information? Thanks again!

So sorry for your loss 💖 I went through exactly the same as you, same dates and found out at 12 week scan With no signs of it happening what so ever. I had D&C but wasn’t given that option, however if given to me I would of definitely said yes. Good luck xxxx

I honestly can't remember how long it took - a few weeks maybe? And there wasn't much info either - they didn't find anything unusual. But knowledge is power, so it's always good to find out whatever you can IMO.

Hi so sorry for your loss this happened to us in June last year had our private scan at 9 weeks 3 days to be told our little pea had no heart beat. We opted for the erpc as we didn't want to go through what happened in our first miscarriage. We decided on the testing this time took about 6 weeks or maybe little less to have results back which confirmed there was the baby but didn't get told if there was anything wrong, if they had found anything I think we would have been told. Xx

Hi op,
I had this done after I lost my baby last year. Mine was a slightly different situation though. I had to tfmr at 17 weeks due to heart defect that wasn’t compatible with life.
Afterwards we had the autopsy and testing and went in to discuss with the doctor afterwards. It was reassuring that the condition wasn’t inherited from myself or partner and this was important to know as we wanted to try again.
Good luck 💐

Sorry to hear all of your experiences, it really is such a cruel horrible thing to happen... I made an appointment today to discuss the results. Everything came back as ‘normal’ or to be expected. Sadly I think it was just bad luck :( but gives us hope for the future xxx it all makes us stronger xxx

Sorry for your loss - I’ve had 2 mmc (3 yrs apart) one where the baby died at 9 weeks and one where the baby died at 8 + 3 days. It’s my understanding the testing only checks to see if the pregnancy wasn’t a molar pregnancy - it doesn’t check the baby for abnormality - I was offered it last time and agreed to it - I didn’t hear anything back though.
