Period-type pains in 3rd trimester - is this Braxton-Hicks?

I’m 33 weeks and for the past week or so have had period-type cramps intermittently. This morning they were sore enough to wake me up.

It’s been a while since my last pregnancies and I did have Braxton-Hicks towards the end, although I remember they were mostly painless. OTOH this doesn’t feel like labour either.

I could get to see a midwife today if I needed to, if not today it’ll be tricky for next couple of weeks. Is it worth calling her?

Hey @53rdWay, I am currently 36+4 and started having period type pains at around 34 weeks my midwife said it is Braxton Hicks, some days they are really bad others just a niggle. Now I get episodes of really bad tightenings across my entire belly as though my skin is really being pulled on, although it's strange as these don't always come with the period type pain. I was told this too was Braxton Hicks. I was in the DAU last night for reduced movements yesterday and while I was on the monitor I had two times where I had BH (what I had been told was) and as they happened the midwife asked if I had been having the period type pains etc as id just had two contractions while she was sat there. I found t reassuring that it happened while she was there and confirmed it rather than trying to explain the pains etc and the midwife just saying 'sounds like...' hope your doing well with your pregnancy x
