C Section: how long before I don't look pregnant?

I had a c section a few days ago but am wondering if I should be worried about the fact that I still look 6 months pregnant. With my previous vaginal births I don't remember being big like this and am just worried it's not normal. Or is 5 days too soon to be worrying?

Day five here too and I still look six months pregnant. I'm hoping it's jsut swelling and I'll
Miraculously lose a stone by next week.
Otherwise it's just fat!

Are you farting and pooing normally yet? I'm 11 days post c section and my belly went down as soon as my digestive system was back to normal. Now it's just a bit jelly-belly esq!

Nightlights · 29/01/2019 07:42

No poo, some wind. The glamour!! Maybe the poo is key, though am quite scared of the prospect!

2 weeks post section here. Now just flabby!

I don’t think it makes a difference whether you have vaginal delivery or c-section tbh. My tummy has always been a bit jelly-like since having DC1 and I suspect it always will be unless I have a tummy tuck. I’ve learnt to accept it and move on, it’s given me four lovely children and that’s all that matters.

BowBeau · 29/01/2019 10:55

My baby is 1yo and my tummy is still hideous. I doubt it will ever get better. I’m hoping to afford a tummy tuck one day so I can feel normal again.

Bobfossil2 · 29/01/2019 10:58

By two months later I just looked very, very fat rather than pregnant.

Now I look very fat rather than very, very Grin
Congratulations on your new baby.

Thesuzle · 29/01/2019 11:01

Good luck to you all with the babies. My I just say as the owner of 2 cesarain scars, that you need to work long and hard on the tummy if you are not to end up with the “overhang” like i have now
Xx

Bobfossil2 · 29/01/2019 11:03

Does the overhang reduce? Mine is enormous 😫 it’s gone down a lot in 3 months as I’m dieting but it’s so heavy at the front. Grim

BowBeau · 29/01/2019 11:37

Does the overhang reduce?

No. The more weight you lose the worse it gets.

LiquoricePickle · 29/01/2019 11:42

Mine went away. I'm pregnant now, but I got to a significantly lower weight them I was pre pregnancy and my stomach looked okay. All your is not lost.

When I left the hospital out friends applied if i was sure there wasn't another baby in there.

Thecaravan · 29/01/2019 16:17

I went out and bought maternity leggings about 5 days after having the baby as I was so convinced I'd have the giant stomach forever. A nurse in the NICU where my DD was asked if I had another one in there Confused I cried and cried. Have never worn the leggings as it went down much more over the next few days so don't panic. Congrats on the new baby!!

Endofrelationship · 29/01/2019 16:33

I definitely had a larger stomach this time after delivery than last time (which was a vaginal birth) BUT this time I was back in pre-pregnancy jeans/ clothes by 7 days, the only thing that stopped me wearing them was the wound. Today I'm out and about in them. So it does go, and fairly quickly once you start going to the loo!

Nightlights · 29/01/2019 16:52

Ooh these are v positive responses, thanks! Will keep my fingers crossed - mainly glad to hear it's normal!

@Thesuzle / anyone: do you know what you need to do to reduce the overhang? Mine was an emergency c section so I got told very little about aftercare! Tummy has gone down but is still massive 2 weeks after 🤦‍♀️

My overhang was still huge and droopy 4 months post emergency c section. I then fell pregnant again at the 4 month mark, had an elective and my stomach is honestly gross now.
Will be having my third section later this year and suspect I'll need to save up for a tummy tuck if I want my stomach to look even remotely nice.
