Anyone's baby turned from breech after 34/35 weeks?

Sorry, another breech q. Can't find stats for the likelihood of them turning after 34 weeks (can see 20% are breech at 28 weeks and 15% breech at 32 weeks), but I'm 34 + 3 and need some cheering up that plenty do still turn...

My ds turned at 37 weeks and he woke me up in the middle of the night to do it! He then decided to be born at 38 weeks

DD1 turned from breech, back to breech and back again between 34 weeks and when she was born at 42 weeks. She is still a very wriggly child!

ds1 turned at 37 weeks- very strange feeling, remeber it made me feel quite strange!!!He then arrived 2 days before his due date, a healthy sized 8 lb 7 oz. Do remember kneeling on the floor shaking my bum around a bit - not sure if this helped but passed the time x

my 1st (9lb 7oz so not much room in there)turned at 38weeks(felt this&was horrible),despite people telling me "they dont normally turn that late",my 2nd (same weight) turned at 36 weeks to lie oblique & my last was oblique breech
from 35-37 weeks (9 lb 11oz),so wouldnt worry to much.

fairygirl3 · 02/07/2007 17:48

4got to say they had tried keeping me in hospital wiv the last as was breech oblique so nothing plugging the hole its thought to b dangerous so i spent a week wiv bum in air as mentioned b4 & also bounced away sitting on exercise ball as much as could stomach & seemed 2 do the job

Thanks for these - it is heartening to hear that they can still turn late on Haven't tried the bouncing on the ball thing - will give that a go this evening...

DD was breech at 37wks - so I had ECV - only for her to turn breech again 2 days later....

She turned head down of her own accord at 38+5 & was born at 39+4 weighing 8lb8.5oz, so even big babies can turn very late

teafortwoandtwofortea · 02/07/2007 21:29

DS2 turned at 38 weeks - made me vomit and have horrendous diorrhea but he made up for it by coming out quickly (1hr 45mins ).

On our antenatal thread I remember there was one other baby in breeach position late on but that one turned at 39 weeks.

If they're still breeach at term your consultant or midwife will probably try an ECV where they physically push on your tummy to turn the baby - it's a very low risk procedure but it can be painful and they may offer you gas and air. more info on effectiveness here.

Thanks for link Teafortwo and the info BetsyBoop. Exactly what I needed to hear

Blimey, so they can turn as late as 38 weeks? In that case, I'm wondering why they offer elective c-sections before term iif they still have a chance in turning. I'd feel really disappointed if I had to have an elective section and reading your comments has made me more confident to see how things progress to term.

Off to do my pelvic tilts and ball bouncing (hmm, that sounds a bit iffy, but you know what I mean )...

My darling daughter twin turned breech after being head down all the way along. I was 40 weeks and starting to have pains...the pains stopped and she was head down again by the next day, had c-section anyway. They were 7lb 5 and 7lb 12 and the staff were amazed she could still move!

Al my singletons have turned and turned and turned, was induced with most of them and they had to wait until baby was head down, break my waters whilst midwives pushed on my tummy to get them gong down.

The danger if they are not engaged and if the wters break the cord could go down before the babies head....

god i am waffling now....

MuffinMclay · 02/07/2007 22:35

DS turned at 36 weeks, the day before the consultant was going to book me in for an ECV.

sazzybee · 02/07/2007 22:39

I was booked for an ecv and he turned the day before - 37 weeks i believe
