Gender Accidental Reveal - Thoughts?!!

Hello all! First post so be kind! :)

I had my 20 week scan last week and my husband and I decided that we didn’t want to find out the gender of the baby. The sonographer was lovely and concise throughout always referencing ‘the baby’s’ when looking at the various body parts. After being told to look away a few times, she still used ‘the baby’ when talking to us but a couple of times afterwards, she said ‘this is her...’. Now my husband and I are both sceptical as to whether this was an actual slip up and we do have a beautiful baby girl growing or if it was just the sonogropher using ‘her’ as a default just like us something referring to the baby as ‘she’ as a normal default. What does everyone think? Baby girl or default use of the term and still 50/50?!

Sorry for silly thread but we don’t know what to think and would love to hear other people’s thoughts!!

Thanks!

You won't know, unless you ask. It is easier to refer to gendered things using gendered pronouns, and I automatically switch between "his" and "hers" if I don't know the correct pronoun, as I was taught at uni. It may well be that the sonographer was doing that, or that they gave it away, or that they know it's a boy and didn't want to give that away so used her instead!

It's still a surprise Smile
