need advice please don't know what to advise my friend to do. a friend of mine who i haven't spoken to contacted me to tell me she was pregnant but didn't sound very pleased this was because she had the abortion pill at 8 weeks and had a scan 2 weeks later and was told that treatment hadn't worked and the pregnancy was still viable. she saw a consultant today and has been told that the baby could possibly be damaged but no cases of someone keeping a baby after this treatment not working have been reported in this country.she wishes she had now not had the treatment at all

Unfortunately I think its very much the case with abortions that there's no going back. I would recommend she seeks a LOT of good advice from places like Brook Advisory centre and Marie Stopes to understand exactly the facts involved. And actually speaking to real people, not just looking at websites.

She then needs to look at the reasons why she decided to have an abortion in the first place, whether those reasons still stand, and whether she wants to continue the pregnancy if there's a chance the child could be born with severe problems, or could die later on during the pregnancy.

I found an american study on the net where they looked at 8o something failed abortions using this pill. Only one child was born with problems and that was a cleft lip. Not sure how correct this is, i think i found it using google. It was a a couple of months ago. Hope that helps
