Hi, just wanted to know if anyone is suffering from tightening or Braxton hicks , if that's the same thing. I'm 20 weeks, they started about 16 weeks and just getting a lot more during the day. Wondered if anyone is having them a lot and if there's anything to ease the discomfort, it's not painful but just uncomfortable, maybe should I be drinking more water or could it be a sign of something worse, I have been pregnant before and did get them but I can't remember getting them so often in the day x thanks

I had then mid-2nd trimester. I rang triage as I had quite a few in one day. They suggested paracetamol and warm (but not hot) bath. They eased off. They didn't say it was weird, unusual or a sign of anything.

Always ring midwife or triage if concerned.

Braxton Hicks are normal throughout pregnancy. They should ease off if you change position. If they’re too frequent (at least 5 an hour, or every 15 minutes) or don’t ease off, it could be a sign of something else. UTIs can cause an irritable uterus so definitely seek advice if you’re concerned.

Thanks for the replies, I feel a lot better today then yesterday, they just seem to be a lot and abit intense, but definitely ease off today, so feel a lot more relaxed today Grin but I will contact my midwife in the future if I'm concerned about them xx
