Agh feel like I’m on a period

I’m 38 weeks tomorrow and I feel like I’m on a period! (Without the blood obviously). I’ve just had this dull ache/cramp and what feels like low trapped wind since about 2am. By low I mean below the pubic bones.

I know it’s not labour as it has been consistent but what the hell is it?

Oh and I’ve got a pressure pain in the bum and occasional sharp pains up there (TMI sorry!) like I get when on a period.

I can still feel the baby kicking though 🤷‍♀️

That sounds like the start of labour.

Most likely it's the baby's head burrowing down into your pelvis. It wouldn't hurt to call the birthing centre and talk to a midwife, but that's what it sounds like.

Thanks both. Trying to not get excited as I’ve had a few false alarms this past week (other symptoms like vomiting, tea coloured discharge for a week, intermittent cramping, intermittent loose stools etc) and nothing happened so I’ll see how the next few hours go.

I’m having a bath which is helping

Give your maternity triage a call and ask for advice. It sounds like baby is getting ready Smile
