Uti relief needed!

Think I have a uti, I thought maybe baby had moved position and was on my bladder a bit more but as the days gone on its definitely uti or cystitis. How can I get some relief?! Been drinking water and have got some cranberry sachets cystitis stuff in cupboard but doesn't say whether you can take them when pregnant. I will be calling docs on Monday, as I've only got a number for the midwife which is 9-5 Mon-Fri so doesn't help getting seen tomorrow. So need some tips for getting some relief in the time being

Drinking cranberry juice / putting natural yoghurt down there

Could you go to the pharmacy tomorrow and speak to the pharmacist they're normally good with helping until you can see the gp/ midwife?

Htaylor182 · 26/01/2019 23:37

Oo good shout did not think about pharmacy! Thankyou!!

You need to see an out of hours GP. If you ring your GPS there will be recorded message telling you how to arrange this. untreated uti can cause premature labour.

Please go to out of hours GP tomorrow, UTIs in pregnancy need to be treated ASAP or it can get nasty

CaseofEllen · 27/01/2019 04:52

I wouldn't wait. Contact out of hours GP or ring 111 (if you have that service) and they will get you an appointment at hospital. UTIs in pregnancy can be quite serious if left untreated for any amount of time.

As for relief, even if you get a prescription ASAP you'll still have symptoms for a little while, peeing in a warm bath (no products), paracetamol, drinking pints of water, setting up camp in the bathroom. All the usual! Sorry you're in pain, good luck x

I was admitted to hospital with a kidney infection when pregnant and needed IV antibiotics. They said that there was a risk of early labour and didn't want to take any chances. I would get seen and get some antibiotics ASAP.

Thanks everyone, it's quite painful and uncomfortable today so now going to ring to get an appointment somewhere. I an 35 weeks so probably higher chance of early labour so won't risk it x

I’m glad your sorted. In the mean time look up the symptoms of pre- eclampsia and don’t hesitate to try maternity triage if you are at all worried.
