Hi all, sorry this is long, I'm a bit all over the place...

So I'm 5+2 which was a big surprise as we did it naturally (We are going to be put on the IVF list in a couple of months.)

Yesterday I woke up to a watery pink bleed when I wiped. Then it turned to a mucky brown and stayed like that until mid afternoon, then nothing. Just after supper I got a sharp pain when i stood up and before bed a bit more Brown blood when I wiped.

Gp yesterday morning phoned the EPU but they won't scan until 6 weeks which is Thursday.

This morning there was a slight bit of brown but less than yesterday.

I have no more bloating...have I lost it? If I felt bloated still I'd be able to tell myself that it was implantation blood but the loss of my tummy bloat and those first cramps and stretching feelings over the course of the last 4 days is making me think the worst.

Thanks for reading x

Hi @BDFT, didn’t want to read and not comment. I’m certainly not an expert but I think if it’s only been light when you wipe and not heavy like a period it could be just a normal bleed. Brown blood indicates that it’s old blood which is a sign that it’s stopped. And I wouldn’t worry about the sharp pain on standing up, I’ve been getting them since early pregnancy, I think that’s ligament pain.

Try to rest and not worry too much, and hopefully everything will be fine at the scan on Thursday. xx

Thank you @GabbyGal I really appreciate your input.

Will try to relax and think logically, like you say brown is better than red!

Thanks again x

I think it so early and vague to call but it does not make me think you have definitely had a miscarriage.

explodingkitten · 26/01/2019 10:22

Could be old blood from the implantation. Brown blood doesn't say much. Except that every woman will always get nervous about it. I also had it, I know that it doesn't mean a lot, still got nervous.

I hope your scan will go well, good luck.

I had the same thing at 6+5 weeks and baby was fine x

Thank you everyone for your thoughts.
I have found a private ultrasound centre where I live and I'm going to book in to see them on Thursday for a 6 week scan. Hopefully that will help me settle and although I don't feel pregnant now at least the spotting seems to have stopped.
Time to try and call down!
Thanks again x

I had some spotting early on, I was told if it's not fresh red blood (as period blood), it's probably old blood. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

mrsk28 · 26/01/2019 17:52

From what I've heard brown blood can be old blood clearing out. I lost my first pregnancy and it was bright red when it started. Mostly when I wiped at first but within 12 hours it had started properly (similar to heavy period) and was accompanied by cramping that got progressively worse. I was around 6-7 weeks at the time.

Best of luck on Thursday and let us know how you get on Thanks

BDFT · 26/01/2019 20:40

Thank you both so much. Hopefully on Thursday I'll hear a little heartbeat. Will let you know! X

6 weeks is quite early for a heartbeat, so be prepared that you might not find the scan 'reassuring'.
