Hi all I am due my 3rd c section Monday and I am terrified. Has a 3rd c section taken longer to complete has recovery been longer ? How long after are you numb for ? The consultants have suggested they might do a spinal and epidural combined ? Has anyone had that together ?

My section was elective and perfect unfortunately my last pregnancy was emergency due to placental abruption and was terrible and that's all I can seem to remember. I try to focus on my first section but I just get overwhelmed with thoughts of last delivery.

Hi. I had a third section 2 weeks a go, an elective. My first was an emcs and second an elective. Recovery has been fine. About the same as my second. It just depends on so many different things though. The surgeon said I had minimal scar tissue which has probably helped.

I was also scared but have been pleasantly surprised. 2 weeks in I am about for walks and stopped painkillers. I still avoid lifting my toddler but otherwise healing great.

Depending on the circumstances, an emcs is likely to be harder to recover from esp if it is rushed and you have already been through labour etc. That was my experience anyway. With both of my electives my recovery was good - one night in hospital, healed well, was mobile pretty fast. Good luck op!

That's great you did so well, yes my emcs was after labour and a placental abruption took forever to recover. It's great to hear you did so well, yes they mentioned you go after 24 hours now rather than 48 if your managing with out oramorph. Did you have arnica ?

No, I didn't have arnica. I managed fine with paracetamol and iboprofen.

That's great I haven't had it before a lot of people have recommended it for healing.
