Went for my 12 week scan on Wednesday was 12+2. When I had the scan they said baby was measuring 12+6. So I'm now 13+1 Feel like iv skipped week 12 lol has this happened to anyone else? I'm not complaining tho 😂 as at my 7+3 week scan I was measuring 3 days behind.. so I was expecting the due date to be put back if anything lol

They say ultrasound is +/- about 3 days. So they're often off by a couple days. All babies grow at different rates. Take it with a grain of salt.

I think I once read about 5% of babies are born on their 'due date'.

I was put forward 4 days at my 12 week scan too. I got a positive at 9 dpo so I think things may have got moving quickly.

They moved me forward by a week at the 12 week scan. I thought I was 12+5 from a prev scan, they then said I was 13+2. I think it happens.

With DS I was moved by 5 days - so absolutely did get the feeling I'd skipped a week. I was a bit sceptical though, I'd had regular as clockwork 28 day cycles. I did some digging - dates can be up to 5 days out at 12 weeks (dating is more accurate at 8 to 9 weeks). All it would have taken to make my scan dates out is DS's torso to have been slightly longer than average at 12 weeks - he's had a long body since he was born so it seems quite possible to me.

The only downside of moving your dates forward is it means they'd induce you earlier if you went overdue. I went overdue and decided in the end that I would only let them induce me based on my LMP dates not the scan dates - which staff were fine with. I went into labour naturally in the end anyway and DS was born 13 days overdue by scan dates. I'm still sceptical my scan dates were right - he apparently didn't look like a heavily overdue baby.

I was put forward 6 days at my 12 week scan x

I was put forward 3 days at my 12-week scan, meaning baby was conceived 3 days before I ovulated. Baby is clearly a prodigy.

Knowing that the dates can be 3 days out makes sense to me. I’ve decided to stick with the scan dates, as it feels much nicer being 3 days further on in my pregnancy. If they want to induce but it feels too early, I’ll feel happy holding out for an extra 3 days!

Yes, my due date was put forward by one day at my 12 week scan. I then had a private scan (as part of the harmony test) at 13 weeks, and that put me forward another three days which would be before I ovulated! Both sonographers said it is just normal variation and that babies have little grow spurts at this stage, so they can sometimes measure a few days behind and at other times a few days ahead. Neither saw a reason to change the due date in my notes, they just see it as an estimate.

Yes with ds I was moved forward 8 days! Meaning I would have conceived on my period which I did not. Doesn't really matter unless induced very early as pp said. I was actually induced at 38 weeks but was still ok with it. As above he now as a nearly 2 yr old has a long body and short legs so I guess that had something to do with it.

Triskaidekaphilia · 26/01/2019 12:58

Both my 8 week private and 12 week nhs scans have put me 5 days ahead, which doesn't match up with ovulation tests or even when we remember having sex Confused. Personally think baby is just measuring big but I guess it doesn't matter too much.
