Hi ladies,

Seen my consultant couples days ago and she mention my iron levels are low, I know this is very common in pregnancy, so I been put on pregaday, I remember these from my first pregnancy I had to take these after my birth as I have low iron count but now remembering the made me very constipated 😩 so shocker I'm constipated again, is anyone else on these and maybe had to stop taking them because of this, or is there any other iron tablets you could take that wouldn't make you like this?? Thanks in advance xx

Ask your doctor for ferrous sulphate. I've been on them for 12 years now with no issues. Midwife told me not to bother swapping them for any iron tablets aimed for pregnancy

I am not pregnant but take ferrous fermanate liquid in orange juice 2 times a day (I can't take tablets)

It doesn't make me constipated

Perhaps try it after asking GP obviously

Sorry I should of mention they contain 100mg ferrous iron,( as 322mg ferrous fumarate, 0.35 folic acid 50mcg sodium. Just reading this off the packet, other then folic acid I have no idea what any of the other stuff are, so if all iron tablets for pregnancy contains these, am I just pretty screwed, and will have to some how cope with the constipation 😩 xxx

Spatone is excellent. Iron water and most is absorbed.

Iron tablets are so loaded with iron because most of it doesn't absorb easily and that’s why you get constipation.

Spatone with orange juice for better absorption.

SubtitlesOn · 25/01/2019 10:35

Again I say I am NOT PREGNANT so please ask GP
