Brown discharge 7 weeks

Did anyone else have this? I've already had an mmc and I'm 7 weeks and went to the toilet and wiped and there was a small amount of brown blood in discharge. Absolutely terrified 😭

Sorry I re read this and it doesn't make sense. I've already had an mmc in 2017 then nothing for 2018, now 7 weeks pregnant and brown discharge

I had this, apparently it can still be implantation bleeding. Call you EPU if you're worried though Smile

Kej13 · 24/01/2019 14:35

I thought that would be earlier than 7 weeks, was yours about then? Just terrified of losing the baby, having the MMC has ruined pregnancy for me 👀 I have pcos so it's possible I'm not as far gone as the drs think. I called 111 and they told me that my Dr would call me, which they did about 10 mins ago and was told just see what happens. I know there isn't anything they can do about it but I just don't wanna wait til 12 week scan to discover another MMC

Can you do a private scan?

Brown discharge doesn't have to mean anything but it does make most women a bit nervous because a miscarriage also starts like that. I had it as well.

sonlypuppyfat · 24/01/2019 14:58

I've had this, it's like you are going rusty isn't it? DS is 19 now and a big strapping lad

ParadiseLaundry · 24/01/2019 15:00

I has this too at 8 weeks and the midwife said it was very common and not to worry.

Kej13 · 24/01/2019 15:03

I'm going to see how today goes and I might pay for a scan tomorrow. Because my last MC was a MMC I didn't have any bleeding and still lost the baby so I keep worrying because I don't know how a natural MC starts! I always thought it was more red than brown blood.

I'd give your EPU a call OP. Thinking of you

OutPinked · 24/01/2019 15:08

Sorry to say this was the only sign I’d had a MMC the first time around. I had brown discharge at 11 weeks, went for a scan a couple of days later and found out the heartbeat had stopped at 7 weeks. No bleeding at all with second MMC.

I did have implantation bleeding with DS but it was at 4 weeks and was light pink rather than brown.

It can be normal but sometimes sadly is an indication all is not well. I hope it’s fine for you OP, contact EPU Flowers.

Kej13 · 24/01/2019 16:55

I'm so sorry for your loss 😔 I had no symptoms of MMC last time I went for my 12 week scan and was told the baby had died at 9 weeks. Heartbreaking isn't it.

I'm just holding out that it'll be okay. I'm not getting my hopes up though.

I had exactly this, I went to EPU the next morning and they scanned me, all was fine - I hope your outcome is the same. I went on to have spotting at 9 weeks and again at 11, now 25 weeks along and seems to have settled.

Gobletoffire · 24/01/2019 20:06

I had exactly this at 7 weeks, along with a bit of cramping. It was only on toilet paper when I wiped and lasted about 2 days. Midwife said not to worry but we paid for a private scan at 8 weeks because I was scared it might be a mmc. But there was a lovely heartbeat flickering away and I’m now 31 weeks pregnant. If it’s going to play on your mind then I would pay for a private scan. But if the bleeding worsens then I would contact EPU. Good luck x

marajade12 · 24/01/2019 20:13

Hi op, I’ve been having this as well. Started at 6 weeks and still getting it about once a week and I’m 12 weeks now. I had a scan at 8 weeks at the Epu and saw a small bleed next to the sac where the placenta was forming. Was told not to worry and that I’d probably continue to spot and to come back in if bleeding got worse or filled a pad. I’ve had my 12 week scan this week and baby is fine.

Fingers crossed you get some answers soon 💐

Average1983 · 24/01/2019 20:16

I’ve just had 6 days of brown spotting and bad cramps. I’m 6 weeks and 4 days. My GP referred me for a scan which I had today. Baby doing fine and there was a clear heartbeat. Beforehand I was absolutely certain the baby hadn’t survived but it’s fine. :) Try and see if you can get an early scan. Otherwise you’ll be worrying loads.

Kej13 · 24/01/2019 20:23

Thank you everyone this is really helping although I feel now like I might have over reacted to the bleeding seeing as so many of you have had it and had healthy pregnancies 😂 I hope it'll all be okay and I can look back on it and laugh at myself but because of the MMC everything is a huge issue to me xxxx

Never think you’re overacting. Any bleeding should always be checked out. I had a MMC last year and I can totally understand the worry you’re going through. I am still going to be worried right up until the baby is actually here. It’s compltely normal. xx

sophied1983 · 25/01/2019 08:03

I came on here to post something similar. I've not had a MC though and I'm worrying so much, can totally understand why you're anxious. I had brown discharge three days ago, day after that was fine, then yesterday and today it's more a light pink colour. Like how it is right at the start of your period. Tiny bit on panty liner but mostly after wiping. Went to EPU yesterday and had a scan. Could see yolk sac, but too early to see much else (am 5 weeks 5 days). Said to go back in a couple of weeks. How am I going to get through that time without worrying? Didn't have anything like this with my first pregnancy.

toastfiend · 25/01/2019 10:37

I had this and also episodes of bright red bleeding from about 6 weeks onwards. I'm now 35 weeks tomorrow and baby is fine. In my case it was caused by cervical erosion, which is completely harmless and common in pregnancy with the changes in hormones.

Do get it checked though. I had a scan at the EPU and paid for an early private scan too. I also let the GP or midwife know when I'd had bleeding (GP early on, midwife after booking in). I hope all is well for you and you get good news soon.

blondeirishmummy84 · 25/01/2019 14:02

I had this with both my pregnancies around 7/8 weeks. Its perfectly normal to panic and worry about it!
First pregnancy had DS1 and second pregnancy I am almost 32 weeks.
If you're really worried ring midwife or GP.

Kej13 · 25/01/2019 16:54

Thank you 💕 Ive been trying to get a scan for the last two days but communication between my Dr and the hospital is horrendous. Bleeding and pain have stopped now, is this a good thing? Might sound stupid buy now I feel nothing (except nausea!!) I feel "less pregnant" if that makes sense xxx

Thought this might be reassuring

Brown discharge 7 weeks
sunshinegirl12 · 27/01/2019 09:59

I had this too at 7 weeks, I went for a private scan and everything was ok and the bleed had just come from my cervix. Last week at 9 weeks had another bleed, gushing red blood this time, obviously assumed the worst but had another private scan that evening and baby still ok, again they said its from the cervix. I’m still petrified and may even book in for another private scan (but how many scans is too many?!) as it has taken us 4 years and 7 rounds of IVF to get to this stage, so I know how scary it all is. Wishing you all the luck with your scan xx

Kej13 · 04/02/2019 18:49

Wow, congrats!! I decided not to go for the early scan, I don't want to pay to find out it's a MMC when I'll find that out anyway, I know it sounds weird but it won't change the outcome and I'll feel worse for paying to find that out 😂 also I'm only 8 weeks so won't see much even if it is a good result so best to try and wait I think. I have the midwife on Friday so I'll speak to her then. If everything is okay at 12 weeks I think I might pay for scans constantly 😂😂😂 xxxx

I paid for an early scan because I had this at the same time as you. It was well worth it in my opinion. I wasn’t worried to the point where I went to the hospital but the brown discharge was always in the back of my mind. Continued for about a week maybe a bit longer. I had the early scan at 8wk 5days and was over the moon to see it wiggling around and the heart beating away. No issues, baby was perfectly fine. Also, the sonographer was a trained midwife who works at the hospital I will be giving birth at. She said that at 8 weeks, as long as there’s a heartbeat the baby has only a 2% chance of anything going wrong and that’s throughout the whole pregnancy. I’m 12 weeks now and haven’t been half as stressed since having that scan.
