I am 39+2 and I have just had my last scan and consultant appointment. from the scan, baby is weighing 8lb 2oz and when the dr had a feel of my tummy, they said that baby is not engaged yet which is a bit worrying as my due date is the 28/01.

Is there anything that I can do to help move baby into the correct position?

I have asked my gp to get me booked in with my midwife when I turn 40 weeks to have a sweep. The are going to leave a message for her as she is only there on a monday afternoon and she is double booked already. The hospital have booked me in for induction when I am 40+10 if nothing has happened by then

I'm only 34 weeks, but have been doing this for a couple of weeks to try and shift baby into the right position (she was back-to-back and transverse)

Spend as much time as possible on all fours / leaning over birthing ball rocking hips / bouncing on birthing ball. Letting gravity do a lot of the work!

Nothing to worry about yet op.

My first was fully engaged from 31 weeks and I didn't go into labour until 39 weeks. Second didn't engage at all before labour started at 37 weeks.

As long as the baby is head down you don’t need to worry - they will engage when they are ready and sometimes this is not until you go into labour. The scan would have shown if there was any problem like a low placenta or fibroid blocking the way. I don’t think there is much you can do other than keep active/upright and let gravity do its thing.

Thanks peeps. Will have to do what I can to give gravity a helping hand

I'm due on the 29th and at 37+3 the head wasn't engaged either. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I'll find out then if he has engaged but judging by the foot in my ribs I think it's unlikely! I've been walking the dogs loads but nothing has worked.

My midwife told me BBA.

Bum - up in the air
Belly - hanging toward the floor
Arms - lean on them

Do this on the floor, on the ball, kneel on arm chairs backwards to watch tv, lean over the kitchen side if you're waiting for something to cook
