“PP to brim” on pregnancy notes?

Hi everyone. I’m 31+6 weeks today and been for a midwife appointment. Everything was fine, she commented that baby’s head is quite low but didn’t seem to say it as a bad thing. I’ve looked at my maternity notes and in the “pp to brim” section it says 4/5th.
I’ve consulted Dr Google and now I’m a bit confused and scared. Does this mean the head is 4/5th engaged, or does it mean she could still feel 4/5th of the head, so only slightly engaged? She also told me at the end to think about starting to pack my hospital bag! I know I should have asked what the notes meant at the time but I’ve only properly read them since coming home.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it mean baby might come early or does it have no bearing on it at all? Thanks x

I'd assume PP stood for palpable which means the midwife can feel 4/5ths if baby's head so baby is 1/5th engaged.

If it's first baby I wouldn't worry too much anyway as it's really common for them to engage from 32ish weeks onwards or sometimes slightly before! It doesn't mean baby will be early but it can make you more uncomfortable unfortunately!

Good luck Smile

PP is presenting part which is usually the head unless the baby is breech. “PP to brim” means the proportion of the presenting part that is palpable above the brim of the pelvis.

In your case four fifths of the head is palpable. This is normal for 31 weeks and doesn’t mean the baby will come early. I think your midwife just mentioned the hospital bag because it’s usually around this time that most people start thinking about getting things ready.
