So I am 10 weeks 5 days pregnant. Have the most excruciating tooth pain thought it was wisdom tooth at first now thinking an absces. It hurts to open my mouth, speak, even swallowing is painful. It is the worst pain I’ve ever had I’m wondering what I should do. Have rang dentists they are all closed or won’t see me. One said to go to a&e over the difficulty swallowing but I was never sure a&e dealt with dental problems? Really need this sorted I can’t bare it any longer. I am in Hertfordshire/ borderline north London if it helps. Thanks so much for any advice I get. First time mom/ just turned 22 and live in a different country to my family so I’m out of my depth here!

Phone 111. They can probably hook you up with an emergency dental appointment.

Phone 111, they should be able to find you an emergency dentist. I'm guessing you don't have your own dentist, but even they would probably say ring 111 at this time.

If difficulty swallowing a&e will see you as you can get infection which can spread along the floor of your mouth, if it's impacting swallowing there is a risk that it will impact your airway. So a&e can treat extreme facial swelling but they don't treat tooth ache.

Is it painful to swallow or difficult?
