Northwick Park Hospital for birth

Hi all, I am brand new to this, and to being pregnant!

We just visited GP and were told that we have to choose our hospital already!

Our options are Northwick Park - which is right on our doorstep or St Mary's in Paddington - which would take us 30min by public transport to get to (no car)

Please could you share your experiences of Northwick Park? I know they had bad rep, but I wonder if they improved.

(I'll post separately for St Mary's, so it's easier if someone has the same question in the future)

Hi there,
Just found your post and wondered if you ended up going to Northwick Park? I’m in the same situation now - Northwick Park is on my door step but I’ve read worrying things and I’m not sure if I should have my baby there or not?! Would appreciate the advice!
Thank you

Hope you don’t mind me butting in. I used to live in the area and Northwick Park was not my choice of hospital if it could be helped. No experience of maternity there. Did you know that St Mary’s is one of the few hospitals rated as Outstanding? It’s an amazing hospital. I’d go there - save up and get a taxi to appointments / the birth if needs be.

New three I’m in the same boat...were moving house and Northwick Park is so close but I’m so scared to go there cause of the rating! Can anyone provide any reassurance?
