Shouldn't the hospital call me if my urine test positive for leukocyte?

So I was just looking at my maternity notes on the app and saw that my last urine test at the hospital tested positive for leukocyte.

I didn't know what leukocyte is so I google and it says this means there's infection some where in the urinary tract, shouldn't they've called me to let me know?.

Yes, if you have an infection it will need to be treated. Give your midwife a call.

Midwife did the same for me - I had a UTI for about 2/3 weeks and they didn't mention it to me!
Wasn't until I went to the GP for feeling rough from a virus thinking I had tonsillitis; he tested my urine and I ended up with antibiotics for the UTI and the virus was just a virus I had to get over naturally!

Was not happy with the midwife's care

This was 28 of November though and I'm under the care of external midwife.when I asked the midwife who calls me if test come back positive she said it's the hospital as she doesn't get my results or even take my bloods.

@supersonicwoman1 I’m in the same position. My urine was sent off to the lab to be tested, and midwife just asked if I was showing any symptoms... I haven’t been. So, wonder if it has to be at a certain level to be an infection?
Are you going to phone your midwife to ask about it? Wondering if I should do the same

At my 12 weeks appointment urine tested positive for ketones which was not mention to me either.

I'm actually worried if something serious comes back positive in my bloods I will not be told.

I tested for leukocytes during pregnancy but was told unless i was feeling unwell that it would be no problem. At next appointment was all clear, so clearly my body had things under control ... yours may have it too!

Same as BeardofZeus, I tested positive for leukocytes when I was pregnant but was told unless I presented with symptoms then not to worry about it. Mine had gone away by the next appointment too

Leukocytes can be a sign of possible infection, but if that was the only positive finding on a dip stick you do not have a treatable uti, especially if you have no symptoms (I'm guessing you've been well give its 2 months ago!). You would be looking for positive nitrites and protein and possibly blood or erythrocytes too. It is very easy to get one off positives on dipstick of the sample is contaminated in any way (ie the pot, your hands or your genitals haven't been recently cleaned).

Urine showing ketones in pregnancy is also a fairly normal finding especially if you've had some sickness.

If you have issues or feel unwell, call your midwife. Google is never going to help.

But I've been having symptoms of infection. I've mentioned this to the midwife last week and 3 weeks after the 28/11and she did the dipstick and said it's all normal so I guess my body got rid of it or it needs to be sent to the lab.

It definitley should have been mentioned however luecocytes are very common in urine in pregnancy due to the increased discharge. If there is a lot ours gets sent off to the lab to check for growth which shows an infection.
