Miscarriage/ false positive?

Hi I was just wondering if anyone had experienced the same or similar.

I took an early detection pregnancy test last Sunday and it was positive. My period was due 3 days ago. I've spent the last week believing I am pregnant. Today I woke up and noticed blood when I went to the toilet. Phoned 111 and was told to go to a&e.

To cut a long story short the doctors told me that I am not pregnant but they don't believe it was a miscarriage they said it's more likely it was a false positive.

I've never really heard of a false positive before and my periods are usually like clockwork so I'm just feeling so confused.

Everyone is telling me it's a positive because it wasn't a miscarriage but I still feel as though I've lost a baby and can't stop crying.

Thanks in advance x

Have you used another test since the bleed?

Sorry for what you're going through. It's tough stuff.

Did they test? Chemical pregnancies are an awful trick of nature.

False positives are very rare. There are a few brands that are notorious for them or for evaps that appear to be positives, that's all I can think. Otherwise maybe a chemical pregnancy. Sorry you're going through this Thanks

Really had to say as such early days I guess - I had a mc in Nov, at around 7+4 weeks, I’d had 3 positive pregnancy tests/ various brands.
Unlikely to be a false positive (what was the brand?)
Maybe a chemical pregnancy?

Sorry for your bad news, it’s tough and You May notice period are a little strange next month and the following potentially.

Thank you everyone for your messages.

I took a clear blue test which is why I was so shocked when the doctors told me I wasn't pregnant after my blood and urine sample.

I think you guys are right with the chemical pregnancy personally.

Thanks again, sending love xox
