Faint positive

Ok so my question is what causes a faint line. I've just taken a clear blue pregnancy test with the first wee of the day and af is due tomorrow. I have the faintest line two days ago I didn't have anything not even a hint. I'm scared to get my hopes up so is it a positive or could it be something else? Also is it worth testing again today because I know the first wee of the day is always the strongest. Thanks

Strength of the line is affected by the sensitivity of the test, and the amount of HCG in the urine sample (which in turn is affected by how far on the pregnancy is, which depends on when implantation of the fertilised egg occurred). A faint line isn't a bad thing in and of itself and pregnancy tests are just designed to give a basic yes/no answer, not to be interpreted in terms of whether the pregnancy will be successful/is progressing.

Good luck OP.

Sorry I meant to say that a line (assuming it has colour and came up within the correct timeframe) is very rare to be wrong. True false positives are very rare, so I think congratulations are in order!

You'll get mixed opinions on whether you should test again. Some women test many, many times after the first positive. Some test only once. I was somewhere in the middle, I tested four times this pregnancy, mainly as I couldn't actually believe it.
