So I’m 36+4 and it looks like some of my mucus plug came away but I’m not sure? It couldn’t be anymore than a 10p piece so I’m guessing there’s more to come and that I’m still a long way off labour yet?

I do have back ache atm though

Hm. Can you describe the backache? Are your bags packed? Is this your first baby?

Erwhatjustcameoutofme · 17/01/2019 13:57

First baby ^^ bags are packed but I want to put some socks in. I ate the Collin caterpillar sweets that I had intended to bring Grin

It’s below my ribs although it’s moved down to my lower/middle back. It’s like a pressure feeling. It’s not unbearable but I can’t get comfortable

Time to ring the hospital and speak to them.

Jellybears1 · 17/01/2019 14:02

Definitely call hospital. The mucus plug can come out quite a long time before labour starts. Lost most of mine about 2 weeks before I was finally induced with my first as I recall. But the pain you describe sounds like things starting to me. Exciting times!

Yes call the hospital. They might want to pop you on the monitor for a bit, seeing as baby would be a touch early. Make sure you lift your phone charger.

cricketmum84 · 17/01/2019 14:29

I went into labour within 24 hours of mucus plug and the back pain you are describing.

Yep make sure your bag is packed and you are ready to go! Good luck!

Thanks all!

Think it was just a false alarm. I had a bath and that’s eased the back.

I still don’t feel 100% but I have a cold so I think that’s causing the rest of my issues

Have you called the hospital for a quick chat though? My plug came out around 36+4, I wasn’t getting any labour pains at all but the midwife took a look and I was 5cm dilated; she told me to get to the labour ward pronto. I was in complete denial! Fortunately my DH took me took to the hospital, minus the jam sandwich I was craving we barely made it to the hospital when DD arrived Shock

scaredofthecity · 17/01/2019 18:18

It can mean labour, but not necessarily. I lost mine gradually from 36 weeks.

I was expecting to go into labour for weeks and then I was finally induced at 40+4.

@Erwhatjustcameoutofme hope you are ok?

ithinkiamgoingtovomit · 19/01/2019 09:37

HI, OP here with a name change.

Nothing happened unfortunately :( I did have lose stools and more cramping yesterday but today...nothing. Looks like I’m gonna be in it for the long haul
