Bit of a silly questionBlush but need clarification

I was diagnosed with tonsillitis for which I've been prescribed penicillin 250mg. The prescription says two tablets four times a day. Does it mean 2 tablets each time four times a day i.e 8 tablets a day! Which makes it 2000mg per day. That's alarmingly high I think (idk?)

I'm 14 weeks pregnant which I mentioned to the gp (she was very sympathetic and lovely)

Yes 2 tablets taken each time so 8 total.

If you want some reassurance have a look at the bumps website (best use of medicines in pregnancy). You can search by drug.

Perfectly normal dose for penicillin.
