im 7.6 weeks pregnant, i started bleeding last night at 6.00, just very small occasional amounts of bright red blood with no clots, i spotted until bedtime and then had one tiny bleed in the night and a tiny one when i got up, the blood has gone from bright red to a brown. i have the same mild cramping ive had since i found out i was pregnant at 4 weeks, i still feel a bit sick but the boobie tenderness comes and goes, but then my symtoms have been coming and going for about 3 weeks.
whats going on, am i miscarrying? is it cervical erosion from sex the other day? im not sure to be scared or if this is normal!

any advice or words of comfort from other people who have experienced this would be much appreciated.

Hi Froozykins,

I haven't had any experience of this but have read heaps of posts about bleeding during pregnancy - it doesn't always mean there is a problem but i would be on the phone to your midwife or hospital asap - the worry isn't good for you so your best to find out as soon as possible.

Lets us know how you get on

fryalot · 30/06/2007 08:26

Hi, I had a bit of bleeding with dd2 (who was 3 the other day) and I know from chatting to others that it is quite common and not always something to worry about.

However, sometimes it is something to worry about, and whilst it doesn't sound like it is in your case (I have also had a mc, btw and what you are having does NOT sound like one) but I would give the mw or epu a call, just to put your mind at rest.

Again, I am sure there is nothing to worry about, but get yourself checked out just in case.

I had 'implantation bleeding' (I think thats what its called?) when I was just under 7 weeks pg. It scared the heck out of me, I was at work, came home! I had same symptoms as you, light bleeding, went to brown, originally quite painful stomach cramps, bleeding stopped after 2-3 hours, cramps a bit longer.

I had early scan, and it showed everything wasok. Happened again at 7.5 weeks, another scan to show all was ok.

I would suggest contacting GP on monday and getting referral to epu for scan to put your mind at rest.

Good luck

KittenKat · 30/06/2007 08:32

maybe epu is open today? If so, see if you can get in today? Not sure if the open weekends tho .

Uki · 30/06/2007 08:35

Hi froozy

It's a really good sign that the blood has now turned brown and it is stoped. I think you need t try and get a scan though you could probably go through dr. and get private one or go to the hospital. yes it can sometimes be from sex as, it is a little more sensitive/ fragile down there, but doesn't mean you've hurt the baby.

If you were miscarrying bledding will continue and you will see some clots. Another not nice option is it could be an eptopic pg and that requires urgent medical attention, you would have sharp pains in one side.

I'd probably go to emergency if anything else happens over the weekend.

Many women have bleeding and are fine though.

kerioke · 30/06/2007 09:09

Hi froozykins,

I'm afraid I cant really say anything different than everyone else has said, bleeding doesnt always mean bad, but it chould still be checked out, and dont let a mw fob you off with 'see how it is as the day progresses' because then worrying will only make it worse. In that case contact the hosp.

My main reason for adding a post is that I wanted to give you a big hug and to let you know you are certainly not alone xxx

edam · 30/06/2007 09:11

Agree with Uki, brown is a good sign as it means what you are losing now is old blood, ie the bleeding has stopped. But I would get it checked out anyway. Hope it's OK, as everyone has said bleeding is surprisingly common.

spud01 · 30/06/2007 09:15

hi froozy, bleeding is very common in early pregnancy and the bleeding is not always to do with the pregnancy itself. If you can try to get a scan from your local epu unit asap, most epu are most understanding.

Good Luck and let us no how you get on x

HI

thanks for all the advice and reassurance, i havn't bled since 7.30 this morning and the sickness has come back with a vengeance so i am less worried now about miscarriage, i phoned NHS direct and the nurse didn't think there was any need to worry and said i should just get bed rest and to see my GP on mon, but to call them back or go to A&E if the bleeding gets alot heavier and painfull.
off to bed now as i stayed awake all night worrying, i will post again if anything changes. thanks.

Good luck, enjoy your rest. Let us know on monday how it went with GP/EPU.

lisad123 · 30/06/2007 10:33

I bled with my dd who is now 4 and this pregnancy whichn is now 26 weeks. Mine has always been down to erosions either after sex or becuase I had any extra load of hormones kick in. Sounds like my bleeding so fingers crossed. Go to bed and try and rest.
Good Luck

bling1 · 30/06/2007 12:53

HI foozykins - I bled at 13 weeks and had a scan to check all was well - as others have said brown is a good sign and it could be around the time you would normally have a period where your hormones are still balancing out.

Best to rest and go to hospital if you start bleeding again - hope you'll be ok

mamijacacalys · 30/06/2007 19:06

Agree with Bling and KittenCat.
Had this early brownsih bleeding during both my pg's - was prob implantation bleeding.
Hope you've caught up on your sleep by now.
Good luck with your pregnancy.

froozykins · 01/07/2007 13:08

hi, no bleeding at all on saturday and ive just been getting small amounts of brown goo like i normally get at the end of a period, did some calculations with the calender and i would have due a period this weekend so it could have been that. will still go to gp although i don't think its anything to worry about now.
