Well I’m 7 weeks pregnant I have been experiencing bleeding. My first bleed was on New Year’s Eve then stopped the next day told midwife who sent me to early pregnancy assessment clinic when I went they told me to go back in 10 days (15th jan) because I was too early on to see what was happening. I’ve been bleeding quite heavy none stop for 5 days I went back for another internal scan yesterday and the midwife said I now have a heart beat which I didn’t before but the heart is going slower than she would like and the baby is smaller than she would have expected and so is the yolk sack. I now have to go back in another 7 days.. she said this pregnancy could go either way either my hormones are dropping to prepare for miscarriage hence bleeding or things may get better .. has anyone experienced this or anyone got advice? If the bleeding does stop and the baby keeps growing but because it’s small does that mean somethings wrong with it? Or should I just prepare for the worst? Any help or opinions il be grateful for x

Sorry you're going through this. I have 2 experiences of similar, 1 was fine and my very healthy son, I just has bleeds throughout for no reason, 1 was an early miscarriage. I don't want to upset you, that's just to say it could go either way.

Are you off work and resting? Do look after yourself as either way it's a very stressful time.

When you had the experience with your son was he small too? I’m just worried with midwife saying heart is going slow.. yes I’m off as also have bad cramping .. I just don’t know what to do, thank you for your kind words x

I had the exact same thing happen to me almost 5 years ago, my case didn't end well. I went in with bleeding for an early scan and the heartbeat was slow, they prepared me then for a miscarriage explained the chances aren't good. I went back a week later (bleeding had calmed) and bubs heartbeat had stopped completely. I went in for a d+c the next day and it was a truly horrible experience.

I'm now 21 weeks and have had bleeding from 7-13 weeks due to an SCH and all is fine.

I'd say the bleeding isn't always an indicator of bad news because you can have plenty of reasons for it, such as SCH or irritable cervix. But the slow heartbeat isn't a good sign. Did they do a blood test to see if your hormones levels are rising?

Thank you for your honesty. Sorry what does d+c mean? I am truthfully expecting the worst but I keep hoping for the best, no they did no blood tests on me just said that they think the bleeding may be because my hormones are dropping and preparing for miscarriage x

I remember when I was in your position asking for positive stories and I hate to share mine knowing someone else is going through the same thing. But I think it's better to know the odds as brutal as it may be. :( I got my hopes up last time and I wish I didn't, but everyone is different and your outcome could be completely different.

A d+c is a surgical procedure, you're put to sleep and the pregnancy tissues are scraped/suctioned out. Really not a nice thing to go through but you do get the natural option too.

Xx
