How to deal with rib/back pain?

I am 25 weeks pregnant and for the last few weeks I've started getting pain in my back and specifically around my ribs on my right. The only thing I've found to help this so far is lying in bed with my pregnancy pillow propping me up. However this is not practical in the middle of the day at work!

Any tips on how to alleviate this?

I've had this problem since 20 weeks but on my left hand side. Now 26 weeks and unfortunately it has only gotten worse as the baby has grown.

I've been signed off work since 23 weeks because the only relief I get is from lying down and work became too painful. Doctors say it's just part of being pregnant unfortunately and can last for around 6 weeks or for the remainder of the pregnancy. Physio didn't help me either.

Applying heat to the area can give some temporary relief, get one of those heat packs you can pop on the microwave and try that at work.

I've read that rib pain on the right can be linked to problems with the gallbladder so mention it to your doctor just in case.

Hope it improves for you soon!
