I've just had a MW appointment and I'm 1cm dilated - this is my first DC. I'm keen for things to get going naturally and avoid induction if possible. Does anyone know if 1cm means anything? The midwife was quite vague.

I was 3cm dilated with my last pregnancy when I had a sweep at 40+ 2 and it didn't do anything, I was induced nearly 2 weeks after that 😞

I hope that doesn't happen to you. Everyone is different. My friend has always had early babies. I'm envious

I have an induction pencilled in for next week which I'm hoping to avoid. This waiting is so hard!

I'm irrationally envious of people who give birth a week before their due date!

I went over with both mine 1st 14 days second 5 days, I wasn’t dilated at all so 1cm is better than 0cm, but it could still take a while or it could kick in tonight, you just don’t know, walk as much as you can and bounce on a ball to get that baby heading down ( only if you can be arsed mind it’s knackering this pregnancy lark!)
My mantra with my first when he went over and induction was booked was “this time next week I’ll have a baby either way” good luck x

Thank you I've had brown discharge but no feelings that could be even mild contractions. Just going to keep focusing on this time next week.

Iv had 3 children .. my sweeps with my last two I was 10cm and 8cm dilated
But my first born I was 2 cm and had her the same day .. try bouncing on a birthing ball I think they help or go for a long walk .. brown discharge could be the start of a show
Good luck x
