Not sure if this is something I should worry about or not but just weighed myself for the first time in a week or so and was surprised to see I seem to have lost 5 pounds (not trying).

Before pregnancy I was 10 stone 5 pounds (5'5"). Haven't weighed myself a lot but between 34-36 weeks I was 11 stone 5 or 6 pounds. I'm 37 weeks today and now 11 stone 1 pound. Had a scan on Thurs and they were happy with baby's growth, which is mid-range on the graphs.

If anything, I have been eating more over the past week or so than before as have felt hungrier. I can't work out why I would have lost this weight. I am quite sedentary at the moment too.

Have you definitely been eating more? Might you just have been eating more frequently, but actually eating less each time, because there’s not enough space in your stomach, so a smaller amount fills you up each time (but then needs to be repeated as soon as more space turns up)? Or just the same amount? Also, babies take a lot of energy to grow, and yours is growing quickly at the moment! So it could be that you’re holding steady with the food, but baby is demanding more. But this is just some guesses as to what might be happening, not a definitive answer!

Not the same amount but I weighed myself after Christmas (having not done so for several weeks) and was shocked to see I'd lost a pound? Like you, I'm sure I've been eating more (especially because of Christmas etc) so was not expecting that! I've put on just over 2 stone now at 37 weeks.

No concerns from midwife etc xx

I won't worry then. Baby's growth seems fine so perhaps i should just try to eat more. Though I do feel I have been.
