I’m 31 weeks and whenever I sit down to relax I get horrendous restless legs!!! It’s driving me crazy... any advice?!

Hot water bottle.

The only thing that helped mine slightly was iron tablets because it tends to come on when I’m slightly anaemic. I had it before pregnancy but it got worse especially in the third trimester. The good news is that it’s completely disappeared since giving birth!

Are your feet too hot? When i had the restless legs, i used to have to sleep with ice packs in socks at the bottom of the bed to next to my feet! It helped Blush

I got this really badly in the evenings. Used to drive me mad. I just used to go to bed early. It can be related to low iron which I did have so definitely get your iron level checked. Having low iron can really make you feel very whacked out after delivery as well as you will likely lose more blood during the birth.

Magnesium spray might help. I found hot water bottle good too.

I have no advice but I'm 30+5 and also getting this alot at night!

Bunnybaubles · 12/01/2019 00:10

Omg I had that every night in my last pregnancy!

During the day, my eldest DD spent hours scratching my legs for me - with her toenails while chatting to friends on her phone - she's 18 yo and was happy to help 😁

Only thing that helped me during the night was lying in bed with the hair dryer blowing cool air onto my legs - I know! But it was desperate times 😂😂 and inviting DD to sit at the bottom of the bed scratching my legs while me and DP slept was not an option 😂

Some nights I left the hairdryer on all night- was the only relief where I could fall asleep for a couple of hours here and there.

DP was a saint during it all 😂😂

Ahh I'm laughing now, but I'm pregnant again, so probably won't be laughing in a few months 🙈

The hairdryer on all night wasnt the best / safest / most economical option so I'm also taking on board what pp are suggesting 😁

Good luck op, I hope you find something that works!

Clarins do a leg energising cream- kind of like deep heat in reverse... its tingly and cold, it's been a total life saver and perfectly safe for pregnancy.

I also take spa tone everyday as I'm boarderline anaemia and I think that's what's triggering it ( well that and just generally being pregnant)

ParadiseLaundry · 12/01/2019 03:15

Yep. Horrible pregnancy symptom. And no one seems to understand how awful it is. I found that being dehydrated made mine worse.

And yes to the hot feet thing too!

Thanks for the replies. I don’t think I’m ameamic or anything. It hasn’t flagged up anyway. The only thing I can do is just go to bed then when I wake up it’s gone... until the following evening? I wondered if it was just down to bring tired?
