Not sure if anyone will know but just had a look to see if these could be taken at the same time and it says not to... I'm over 1 month in to taking both tablets I'm sure I'll be ok but it's weird how my bleeding has all of a sudden just stopped from heavily bleeding

If you're pregnant, why are you taking cerazette?

Markygirl1995 · 10/01/2019 17:55

I'm not pregnant sorry @physicskate I've recently given birth

If it says not to take at the same time, don't?

SenoraSurf · 10/01/2019 18:29

I took these for years at the same time. No problems with me and I'm now pregnant since coming off cerazette.

I never knew they couldn't be had together and my doctor never mentioned it.

You shouldn't take anything at the same time if day as levothyroxine as lots of things can affect its absorption. Levothyroxine should be taken on an empty stomach with water only an hour before food. As such most people take levo first thing in the morning. Levothyroxine should also be taken at around the same time everyday.

It's also recommended that a gap of about 4 hours is left between levothyroxine and other meds or supplements. So you may want to take Levo in morning and cerazette at night.

Oestrogen can affect your body's ability to utilise the levo so you may find you need an increased dose of levo after starting the pill.

It can reduce the levothyroxine absorption if taken together. It does not affect cerezette though.

Cerazette makes your periods stop sometimes.

Markygirl1995 · 12/01/2019 09:15

@cja06 what do you mean stop?

Markygirl1995 cerezette stops periods (or breakthrough bleeding as it actually is) in around 75% of users. I didn't get any bleeding for the whole time I was on it.

RTmarie · 24/01/2019 14:51

I started taking cerazette 2 weeks ago & I was due on my period 2 days ago & it hasn't arrived 😒

Endofrelationship · 24/01/2019 15:02

RTmarie it probably won't. Cerezette is very effective at stopping periods all together.

When on a combined pill, the break week where you have a period isn't a real period, it's an artificially induced one, and having one doesn't mean you aren't pregnant.

RTmarie · 24/01/2019 15:18

Ahh fair enough. I just wasn't expecting it to take effect so quickly

If in doubt, ask a pharmacist! It's literally their job to know! 🙂
