Hey mummies! I am in major need of advice, this is my first pregnancy and I'm only 22 but I have got the worst back pain of my life! There are days when I can't even get out of bed! Paracetamol and hot baths are doing nothing! I'm in major need of advice!

Also I used to smoke but quit when I found out I was pregnant, I have literally had chest infection after chest infection, has this happened to anyone else? Or am I just unlucky?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Have you seen your GP and/or midwife about your back pain and chest infections?

There have been many and lingering bugs this winter, I’ve had a disgusting steaming cold, cough, sore throat, ear ache for weeks off and on. Your immunity is lower when you’re pregnant and can be likely to catch more things.

Your back pain sounds terrible, I’m so sorry. Have you tried physio?

Yeah, I went to the GP and was basically told to bare with it as the only thing she would recommend was anti inflammatory rub but as it contains something that can cause heart defects to the baby I couldn't use it. I pestered my OH to give me a back rub earlier which slightly helped.

I think it is the season for all these horrible bugs, just sadly I seem to catch everything at the moment😂 I think I've been more unwell the past 3 months than I have the past 3 years!

I haven't tried physio but I will definitely be looking into it! Thanks so much for the advice

You poor thing Flowers

There are some painkillers you can take in the second trimester that you can’t in the first and third, might be worth going back and asking again.

Definitely try physio or osteo. See if there’s a clinic nearby which is used to helping with pregnancy issues/women’s health. I had crippling sciatica for a few weeks which eventually went away with some exercises I got off YouTube. But before I found them I was about to book a physio near my work which has pregnancy trained staff and if I have more issues I’ll book myself in.

You’ve got a way to go yet and you sound like you’re having a rotten time so don’t suffer in silence when there are things you can try. You might have something out of alignment as your structure changes around your growing baby that can be easily fixed. I really hope so.
