Morning everyone
I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to cope with IBS during pregancy? Im 14 weeks now and had midwife appointment yesterday where should could heart the heart so I know all is well with the little one.

I normally manage my cramps and pains by eating, but it has started to flare up. Last night it woke me up at 2am and kept me up for hours. I could only sleep on my back and do breathing exercises.

Does anyone have any tips? My normal pills aren't allowed during pregnancy...

I sympathise. I get ibs and last pg I had a nasty attack of it. I usually cope by lying down (as moving makes it worse) and waiting for it to pass if it’s really bad I take buscopan to settle it down but I’m pretty certain you can’t take that in pg. for me if I have a flair up if I don’t get medication to settle it it won’t get better and I really struggled last pg. my gp eventually prescribed me mebevorine (or something like that) but that was 8 years ago, I’m not sure if advice has since changed. Taking it just a day or so was enough to settle to spasms and stop the worst of the attacks. I had to do that sporadically as it flaired up. So far I’ve had some ibs but not a proper ‘attack’ but I’m waiting for it to come as I expect it will at some point. Do what you can with diet/lifestyle/relaxing to limit stress etc etc and if it’s really bad still get a second optinion from another gp about medication as some are very overcautious about prescribing medication when there are options available. If they still won’t prescribe request to be seen by a relevant consultant as it really is no fun and can be really awful. The specialist I’m sure will have more knowledge in help in pg than the gp.
