Silver Cross wayfarer or Wave?

Does anyone have any recommendations between the wayfarer or the wave? We live in the country so ideally need something that can cope with uneven surfaces everywhere!
Any recommendations?

The Wayfarer has the smaller wheels I think. We got the Wave which has the massive cross country wheels which sounds like what you need. I'm still not due yet (36 weeks) so not tried and tested but the Wayfarer is massive, takes up a lot of storage/boot space and heavy.

I'm sure the wayfarer got bad reviews for wheels getting stuck on uneven surfaces. So we went for the sturdier silver cross pioneer, the limited edition Brompton.

After 6 months I recommend you stay away from silver cross! The sturdier pioneer cannot cope with lowered curbs or anything uneven either so I hate to think what the wayfarer would be like.

They are beautiful to look at but they are definitely not practicle, especially if you drive and have to take it all apart to get it into your car.

We actually use the maxi cosi I-size car seat on the chassis, have done for about 5 months now so wish we'd just bought a cheap chassis and used the money elsewhere. The silver cross definitely isn't good value ☹

Honestly? Go for a bugaboo. The silver cross are lovely looking but we swapped ours for a cameleon and cannot believe the difference in manoeuvrability. If I had mybtme again I'd get a buffalo though.

We have a wayfarer...no good for anything uneven!

Plantkween · 09/01/2019 19:52

Thanks for all the comments! Im not going to be using it with a carseat and we have a large boot so size isn't really an issue!
The waves wheels look really similar to the bugaboo cameleon, but I can't find any reviews on the wave. I think the buffalo has been discontinued now?

If you have that kind of money get an uppababy. Far far better. Wish I had one

Plantkween · 09/01/2019 19:55

Also the weight limit on the cameleon is a lot lower, would that be an issue?

We've got the Wayfarer and it's definitely no good on uneven surfaces!

tryinganewname · 09/01/2019 20:08

I have a Wayfarer, it can't even get up most dropped kerbs!

tryinganewname · 09/01/2019 20:10

In all honesty, I'd never buy a Silver Cross pram again. We also have an Oyster2 as a spare at the caravan and it's soooo much better, even though it was a fraction of the price.

If I had my time again I'd probably go for a Uppababy or Bugaboo.

Also, the car seat that comes with the SC prams is horrible.

I’ve gone for the bugaboo Fox. Really light yet solid and nice big wheels for country walks.

Muddytoes1 · 09/01/2019 20:21

Another one really disappointed with silver cross. We had the pioneer which is practically the same as the wayfarer and as others have said useless on all but smooth tarmac. Exhausting as caught on every tiny bump or edge. Not manoeuvreable at all. Looks nice and huge basket but a real shame we didn’t read more reviews before we bought it.

I've got a wave and it's lovely the wheels are actually pretty good however I also have an icandy peach all terrain with air filled tyres and 3 wheels and it's amazing and nothing could beat that for getting through any ground.

If you want to go country walks then get an actual all terrain buggy with air tyres.

The only reason we have the wave now too is that we have a newborn too now so need a double buggy and the 3 wheel peach doesn't convert to tandem.
