Beta blockers 3rd trimester

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of beta blockers in pregnancy? I have been perscribed them from 28 weeks due to a heart conditon. I have been perscribed Nadolol also known as Corgard.

The hospital have assured me there is no risk to babies development but it could cause prem labour or low birth weight. I just wondered if anyone has experienced anything like this? I can't find any information on beta blockers except they shouldnt be taken which isnt very re-assuring.

I am getting growth scans every 3 weeks so I am being closely monitored.

I wasn't on beta blockers, but suffer essential hypertension and was put on methyldopa blood pressure tablets from the start and as my blood pressure got worse the further on my pregnancy I was put on labetalol and nifedipine, sometimes together.

I know its not the same, but i freaked out cause Google told me all blood pressure tablets were bad for pregnancies - low birth weight, restricted oxygen reaching the baby and risk of preterm birth, etc.

DD was born with no issues at all, so I've learned to trust the consultants. DD was born a month early, but only because I was induced for pre-eclampsia.
