Indigestion- when will it end?

I’ve had horrendous indigestion since about 20 weeks.... can’t stop making this crazy croaky noise in my throat and chest all the time and feel like I’m going to vomit.

I’m on 40mg of omeprazole from the GP (the max amount I’m told), I take gaviscon, I eat raw carrots, I don’t eat spicy or rich food, I don’t eat late at night.

This morning for breakfast I ate two slices of toast, a banana and 2 carrots and the indigestion by lunchtime was just horrific.

What the hell?! I’m 38 weeks pregnant now and I can feel baby has dropped as top of my tummy is softer - will it ever end? And is there a magical cure I’m missing ?????

When the baby is out. Sorry 🙈😂

HollowTalk · 08/01/2019 17:14

I found it went on the day I went into labour, sorry!

Foodylicious · 08/01/2019 17:14

Can you take ranitidine as well?

Or Tums?

I can't remember, but I had heartburn for a couple of weeks PP, but not as bad as when pg.

babysharkah · 08/01/2019 17:17

Instantly disappeared when I came round after EMCS

riotlady · 08/01/2019 17:19

Yes, when the baby comes out, sorry! Just think though, at the very maximum that will be in 4 weeks time, and probably much less than that.

My partner always said we should’ve bought stocks in Rennies when I was pregnant, I got through that many xD

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 08/01/2019 17:22

I had it so bad I was waking up in the middle of the night coughing so hard I’d be sick Envy.

It was grim.

Ranitidine helped, but after the birth it was like someone had waved a magic wand and the heartburn, indigestion and SPD just disappeared immediately.

Thanks ladies... I hoped you might suggest something magical I’ve missed 😂😂😂

Can I take Ranitidine with omeprazole?

I’m 38 weeks now so on the countdown... god this bloody pregnancy I feel like my body has been abducted by aliens - I can’t walk because of SPD, I can’t sleep because of that pain and indigestion.... Oh my word!

Try Apple cider vinegar in water

Mamabearx4 · 08/01/2019 17:39

Try ice cold milk. It will soothe a bit. I know your pain. But the meds from gp worked for me, so milk was a top up

le42 · 08/01/2019 17:42

Thank you, I’ll try apple cider vinegar.

Milk is the enemy... makes it much much worse for me 🙈

I suffered with acid reflux prior to pregnancy, and as soon as I hit 12 weeks I got the same symptoms that you’re describing, my throat was making a constant rumble/croak type noise and feeling like I had trapped wind and bubbles in my chest which would make me physically retch, it was awful.
The doctor increased my dose of ranitidine that I’m on. I used to be on omoperazole but it doesn’t help me like ranitidine does. I don’t think you can take them both together but it might be worth asking to switch to them instead to see if it helps you in your final few weeks. I’m 30 weeks now and since taking more ranitidine I don’t get it as bad as what I did at 12 weeks! I still get it on and off, but it’s manageable with gaviscon occasionally. X

Thank you @gobletoffire that’s super helpful!

I have found eating small amounts more often is better than eating bigger meals. I also avoid drinking too much water either side of eating as I think that mobilises things too much and makes all the liquid come back up. Try and stay upright for an hour or two after eating. As soon as I gave birth last time it was immediate relief, hoping for the same this time.

Grannyannex · 09/01/2019 03:00

Gave up gluten. Worked a treat each pregnancy and only got it back whenever I slipped and ate normal pasta and wheat items

redbirdblackbird · 09/01/2019 03:02

It’s horrendous
My baby was on ranitidine with omeprazole for reflux so it can be done

sleephelpporfavor · 09/01/2019 04:17

I took both without a problem, doctor advised. Didn't bloody make much difference by the end though, only giving birth solved it!
