Any advice? Brown red blood at 6 weeks

I experienced some browny red blood in my knickers which I just admit really freaked me out. Epu won't take without a referral and not heard back from doctors yet. I am 6 weeks today. Is there any point in me booking a private scan for tomorrow or will that make me worry more if no heart beat is detected? Is it too early? Sad

Sending you positive thoughts during this time. I experienced bleeding during both my pregnancies- I know how you're feeling so lots of hugs.
I think my first bit of bleeding was around 8 weeks with my first, booked in with my GP as soon as I could the same day and the Early pregnancy unit got me in first thing the next morning for a scan.
Take it easy, try relax and try get through again before the working day is over!

@bethandfreyaruby thank you for your message.
I know the doctors referall finally got sent off tonight but unfortunately the EPU is now shut until tomorrow. Not really sure what to do now. Guessing I'll go to work and maybe they'll ring me. Really don't want to have to leave work randomly as I already left early today because of the bleeding as it's the first time it's happened. Maybe I should just book a private scan for Thursday eve and not bother with the epu at least then I woudlnt have to worry about work. Are private vs epu much different?

I would say that a scan this early wouldn't necessarily be very reassuring - I had bleeding at 6 weeks, went for a scan, was measuring 5-5.5 weeks so no baby (but dates made sense for my ovulation date etc) freaked myself out for two weeks reading about all sorts on google, then went back to see a little 7+4 week blob with a heartbeat which at my next scan last week was a wriggly 11+1 baby. I think you have to be really sensible to get a scan and make sure you realise that you may not see anything and this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

@Justincase87 thanks. I'm so confused what to do for the best. I've had no more major sporting since than morning but when I woke I get a very faint light brownish colour sometimes.

I can't decide whether to go to the epu tomorrow or maybe at the weekend instead when there's a greater chance of hearing or seeing something? I don't think I can wait much longer than Saturday:( I'll be 7 weeks then according to lmp or 6 weeks +4 according to when I think I ovulated.

Sorry for mistakes in that. I meant when I wipe not woke.

It's so frustrating and hard to know what to do for the best, despite what I have said I have experienced bleeding at 6 weeks twice now once with a good outcome, once not so good, and I didn't wait either time before contacting the EPU! I think the only issue you may have with the EPU is they'll try and get you in as soon as possible but maybe you can explain over the phone and see what they say. I can say from my outside perspective that waiting would be better, but I also know what it's like to be scared!

@Justincase87 I've got an appointment now. I was going to leave it but felt really sick and extremely faint earlier and very clammy. Hoping this could be morning sickness...or could just be trying to think the best. Will find out tomorrow I hope they can hear/see something. Not more spotting just a little faint brown tinge when I wipe sometimes.

Have you had your appointment? I hope it went well, sending you a handhold if you haven't been yet

@Justincase87 thanks you for thinking of me. I've had a scan. All was well we saw a heartbeat Smile fingers crossed no more bleeding.

Amazing news, I've had three short periods of spotting in this pregnancy and touch wood everything is going ok, heartbeat and measuring the right size is really positive X

Same here, I’ve spotted for 1-2 days around 5 times in this pregnancy. Had a good scan at 8 weeks with hb. It is such a worrying time.
