Just got my BFP :) :) :) :) :)

Took me days to pluck up the courage to test after no appearance from AF for over a week.

ClearBlue says I’m 2-3 weeks but websites/app tell me I am 5 weeks and 3 days. Eeeekkk!!

Trying to be positive but now just so frightened something will go wrong. Also quite concerned that I was boozing a lot over Xmas/New Years, and not just a couple of proseccos here and there, but full on all day boozing on double
G&Ts :-/

I’ve already been taking folic acid and also a multivitamin which I will now stop as contains vitamin A.

Going to call the doc tomorrow to see about an appt, is it 8 weeks they usually see you?

Please send me all your advise! Although we were actively TTC this is still a massive shock and I feel very out of my depth.

Thanks!!!

First of all congratulations!! Smile i'm new to this too! First pregnancy and even though we were actively trying to conceive it still felt like a shock, and I'm constantly feeling a roller oaster of emotions! I'm 4 weeks 5 days pregnant so i'm at a similar stage to you.

The weeks indicator on the clearblue tests tell you how many weeks it has been since conception. The websites and pregnancy apps date your pregnancy from the start of your last period (which will be where the 5 weeks is coming from) so really for the first couple of weeks you arent actually pregnant, but your body is preparing for a pregnancy. Hope that makes sense!

I wouldnt feel guilty about any drinks you have had over christmas and new year. As you are early on in your pregnancy, as far as i know the effects on your baby are very minimal as the placenta has not yet fully developed so you shouldn't have passed any intoxicants to your little one.

I rang my GP surgery to inform them of my pregnancy and ask what my next steps were. They said i wouldn't need an appointment with my doctor and they just gave me the phone number for my local maternity unit to make an appointment with the midwives. I have got my first appointment booked now and i'll be about 7-8 weeks pregnant at this time.

X

Congratulations to you both! I wouldn't worry about the boozing side of things now as you weren't to know! My aunt didn't realise until she was 10 weeks and carried on like normal so no guilt!

Also just letting you know they have August and September threads etc on here depending on your due dates that are really good and supportive x

Thanks for your responses.

Congratulations JJ94!!! How long were you trying for?

I've woken up today and it still hasnt sunk in!

I called the docs and made a midwife appt for when I will be 9 weeks.

Thanks for the reassurance re drinking over the festive period. I'm feeling better about it - it couldnt have done much harm that early on and I'm quite lucky I was able to enjoy a few drinks over Christmas and New Year before finding out.

I have joined the September thread now, thank you :)

xx

I keep having to reminding myself that I'm pregnant, it doesn't feel real!

I stopped taking the pill in November, had one natural period at the beginning of December then conceived mid December. So not long at all! I have read about so many women struggling to conceive after being on the pill, so thought we best start trying if its going to take a while... then bam, 1st cycle Grin

How long were you trying for?

I have joined the September thread too Smile

If it's any conciliation I am currently pregnant with my first child and I still can't believe I'm pregnant... I'm 34 weeks and sporting a large belly, still sinking in that I'm going to looking after a human being that is going to be mine in the not too distant future! Lol.. congratulations!! Xx
