Not enjoying baby movements

Please say I'm not alone in this. I'm 20 + 2 although I find feeling the baby move reassuring I don't enjoy it as much as others do or as much as I feel I should. I was the same when I was pregnant with my son but I find the baby movements so strange and uncomfortable. Anyone else dislike the feeling? I feel like a terrible person.

I hear you I get really annoyed at first it was exciting (first pregnancy) but two weeks of it I'm over it and don't want to feel it moving around.. Same sensation before you have diahorea and your stomach bubbles. 4 more months and then it will be over.

I've been the same and after a 3 year battle with infertility and multiple failed rounds of treatment, I too feel awful for not 'enjoying' it. I find it weird and uncomfortable and disconcerting. I'm now 31 weeks and have gotten used to it and don't mind it as much anymore but still it's strange and I already have mum guilt that I'm not more connected to the baby and don't 'love' being pregnant like some do. I think it's normal so try not to worry.

26w and totally over it!!!

Loved it at first and couldn't wait for DP etc to feel the kicks - now I find it all a bit much and rather irritating Confused

Roll on 40w!!!

CrabbyPatty · 06/01/2019 09:58

I was the same although I enjoy them more now I'm near the end!

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 06/01/2019 10:03

I was the same with DD. The early flutters made me feel like I was going to throw up (the sensation, not the baby moving itself.)

Then, when she got bigger it was the constant punching and kicking at night that got irritating. I couldn't sleep without a foot, arm or bum being poked out of me.

It's uncomfortable! You're not a terrible person at all.

Hi OP

I literally could have wrote your post I feel exactly the same! I’ve said to my DP and close friends that I feel terrible for not loving the movements. They make me flinch, twitch and have started to become uncomfortable I’m 26 weeks. I have started to get used to it so I’m sure you will but I’m looking forward to 40 weeks as another PP says!

I’d recommend a pregnancy pillow for sleeping too if you haven’t already got one. As my LO loves a nighttime!

Well here's my tribe! I'm 25 weeks and swear to god I'm brewing a fucking gymnast in here!

It's odd feeling and ours is SO active that it's very uncomfortable. Roll on 40 weeks here too!

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 06/01/2019 12:34

I didn't like it at all when it first started but now at 26 weeks I'm starting to enjoy it.

The first few weeks were just uncomfortable bubbles, like burps/wind or a parasite.

Now baby is stronger, it helps to be able to feel limbs and realise it's a little person I'll get to meet soon enough.

momoa80 · 06/01/2019 14:06

I'm the same! Only 20 weeks and already jumping at the somersaults he keeps doing! I keep saying to friends/dp it feels so weird! (12 yrs since my last pregnancy).

H0709 · 06/01/2019 17:14

It's so reassuring to read that others haven't enjoyed the movement too! I mentioned it to a few people when she first started kicking and they all kinda implied that I should be loving it. It's a weird feeling. I'm now 29 weeks and I have got used to it so it's not bothering me anymore, but some of the big movements still make me uncomfortable. Can't wait to meet her and see her doing all this moving about!

mortifiedmama · 06/01/2019 18:18

Another here! I hate the alien feeling. I do not enjoy pregnancy at all.

This baby is breech so headbutting my ribs and kicking my cervix which is even more unpleasant than last time!

cm21 · 07/01/2019 17:55

Phew!!! You guys have made me feel much less of a freak for hating the movements! Thanks ladies it's nice that others feel he same and are happy to admit it aswell! Roll on week 40 and hopefully I'll just get used to them again in the meantime Grin
