Hey ladies,

Just wondered if anyone else's baby gets hiccups on a regular basis.... I felt my boys for the first time a few days ago and he keeps getting them! Is this something I should be worried about?

My midwife said it's fine when I last spoke to her, but to call up if his movements decrease from normal.... But I still can't help but panic, especially after googling it which was the worst possible thing to do 😩🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm 30wks + 2 days 🤰🏻

Thanks in advance!

Yeah I'm pretty certain it's common, I've never noticed them but pretty much all of my friends have ! I always thought I was the strange one for not experiencing it haha

My son had hiccups in the womb all the time (often more than once a day), and got them all the time when he was born too. He's nearly one now and gets them less now than he used to. No problems that we're aware of!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 05/01/2019 18:22

My first had hiccups every day without fail. It’s just them learning to swallow as far as I’m aware! DS did have a horrendous tongue tie and a couple of nurses etc said that the hiccups could have been a sign of that - he couldn’t swallow properly because of the TT, hence the hiccups. But nothing to worry about!

Thank you so much for the replies ladies! Puts my minds at rest a little.... Just did the worst thing be googling and then seeing all these things it could be 🤦🏻‍♀️ Typical me haha!

My dc has hiccups every day. She's 5 months and hiccups every day too.

Watto1 · 05/01/2019 18:31

Dd was a hiccuper in the womb. She's 10 now and it doesn't seem to have done her any harm!

m4rdybum · 05/01/2019 20:06

My DD is a huge hiccupper and keeps me awake at night for a good 20 mins at a time. It's annoying because you can't really get them to stop by changing position or anything.

As a PP said, nothing to worry about - just them learning yo swallow and breathe in the womb.

Lovewinemorethanhusband · 05/01/2019 20:23

Hiccups are normal but if you notice that baby isn't moving as much but just constant hiccups then you need to get checked out

UndercoverLauren · 05/01/2019 20:32

@m4rdybum I'm having the same problem - normal movements don't keep me awake but the hiccups are like a dripping tap to me!

TheNewYear · 05/01/2019 20:34

I hate to be the voice of worry but I would get it checked out. It turned out that my baby’s hiccups weren’t hiccups at all and were actually seizures in the womb.

SoyDora · 05/01/2019 20:36

All mine have hiccuped lots in the womb. All 100% fine.

chloechloe · 05/01/2019 20:40

My first and third hiccuped all the time in the womb and when born, it’s completely normal.

Sun19 · 05/01/2019 21:14

I'm 29+6 and have felt him hiccuping (or what I assume is hiccups) for the last week every day!
