Early scan

Hi ladies, I was wondering if any of you had an early scan with your pregnancy and what you managed to see? I had booked one thinking I would be 6+3 but now looking at my suggested ov date I'll more likely be 5+5 and a little worried I won't see much.

Any stories would be appreciated 😊

@rj995 I had one at 7 and a half weeks because I was involved in a car accident and had some light bleeding. Remember the baby is tiny at this point, about the size of an olive. It took the lady a few seconds to find the baby because bubba was so tiny but as soon as she did she heard the healthy HB and I saw what I can only describe as a wriggling blob. The nurse said the HB was healthy and she couldn't see any signs of anything to worry about which was a huge relief.

Hi @rj995 I had a scan on Wednesday at 8 weeks 2 days and saw a little flickering heartbeat and something g slightly peanut shaped for a baby 😊 not all that much to see and wasn't in there very long but it was good for reassurance as I've been really anxious in this pregnancy. I've attached a pic of our scan incase it's useful for you to see the sort of thing 💕

I had scans from 5.2 and saw HB just as a flicker but it's rare to see it that early I think I was just a lucky

I had one at what I thought was 6+4 but I was dated as 6 weeks exactly. We were able to see a heartbeat and that it was all in the right place.

I would wait until 6 weeks minimum if you can, there's a chance there won't be a heartbeat before then so it might cause you more angst than waiting. I had a scan at (what ended up being) 5W+4 and no heartbeat (although reassured that everything looked "as it should") and then went back at 7W exactly to get a re-scan and saw the heartbeat then.

That was a hard couple of weeks, I'd been there before with a miscarriage so didn't really expect a positive outcome.

Early scans are done transvaginally so bear that in mind, I've had a few - but the private one I had at 8W was abdominal. There was a blobby thing with a heartbeat which was great to see, I'm a bit nervous about it all due to previous miscarriage.

Good Luck! Flowers

Thanks ladies for your reply, I guess everyone is different and we will be extremely lucky to see a HB tomorrow so not holding out for that, as long as things appear to be in the right place and progressing size wise I'll be content. Will probably end up booking another further down the line before my 12 week scan if we don't see much tomorrow tho.

I had scans at roughly 5 and 7 weeks after experiencing pains. 5 weeks was literally just a empty black blob, 7 weeks showed something more recognisable as a baby shape!
