Hi everyone, will be grateful to hear some pieces of advice regarding these two hospitals. I moved to the uk a year ago so I’m not aware of the local procedures whatsoever. How do I choose? I am 8 wks now and had my first midwife appt today in APH, all seemed great but I had read some horror stories about it on the internet.. but dated several years ago, maybe things changed for the better? meanwhile everybody says LWH is greatest ever.. it’s a bit further from where I live, about 30 min drive but still ok, I guess..
I read some posts where people say I decided to stick with this one or that one because my consultant is just fab, - is it midwife they’re talking about? I won’t see mine before 16 weeks..

Thanks everyone x

I know someone who works in the maternity area at Arrowe Park, who says that their night time emergency policies don’t err on the side of safety. I get the impression that it’s not all harmonious among the staff. I’d probably just have gone there unquestioningly, so I’m perhaps lucky I moved far out of the area.

A friend delivered three at Liverpool and didn’t complain to me about it. (Two entirely different and non-comparable data points!) She was Liverpool-based, so Arrowe Park wasn’t on her radar.

The problem is, you are bound to hear good and bad about both from different people. I'm the other side to you, so have LW or Ormskirk to choose from. I know women who had a great experience at LW and a few who swore they would never go there again. Lw will have far more facilities etc, but for me it comes down to distant. The end of my last pregnancy i was back and forth to the hospital and I was glad I chose the nearer one so will choose the same again this time.

@mummy801 I'm 36 weeks and chose APH as I'm Wirral based. I'm low risk, so midwife led. No complaints at all from me, they've been great. I did go to the women's for a NIPT test, it's obviously a lot bigger and specialised, if I was consultant led I'd possibly consider for next time.
