Hi. I'm 17 and wondering if I can get the 500 pound maternity grant and what money I am entitled to??

Hiya,

May be worth having a look at some of the information here www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/benefits-and-entitlements-to-claim-when-you-have-a-baby

Hope that helps a bit 🙂

I think you can, but it's linked to other benefits so you'll have to claim them first. You will be able to claim income support once your 29 weeks as long as your parent aren't claiming child benefit for you, and that would then entitle you to the grant.

Alternatively once baby is born you can claim child tax credits (area dependent) or universal credit. You can also get healthy start vouchers now so make sure you put a claim in as soon as you can, it's only a few pound a week for veg or milk (or formula) but it adds up.

Sorry can't tell you more without knowing about your situation but you could put your details into benefits-calculator.turn2us.org.uk hear to get a better idea. I found it useful to also enter as though baby was already hear to she what I would get later on.

Best of look, I'm sure you'll be a great mum.
