Has anyone fell pregnant on the mini pill?

I had previously been on the depo provera jag for around 4 years and came off of it this summer and switched to the mini pill, the one with the three hour gap. Last Monday, 9 days ago, I started being really sick throughout the night and on and off throughout the day which is still going on 9 days later, I am being repulsed by certain smells which I'm normally fine with. The past 2 days I have also been getting bad cramping, which feels like period cramps and my breasts are really sensitive to touch, baring in mind I've not had a period in a good couple of years due to contraception. I took a test around 2 weeks ago which was negative however around 2.5 weeks ago I had sex with my partner after missing the pill the night before.

Does one think it sounds like it's possible that I am pregnant? or should I stop worrying? To go for bloods next week so hopefully it'll be clarified then. We are not planning for a baby as i am currently doing my child nursing degree would be happy non the less.

Thanks for any advice.

Well yes, if you missed a pill and had unprotected sex there is a chance of pregnancy.

Squiff70 · 02/01/2019 17:20

It's entirely possible that you're pregnant. You know the score though - the only way to know for sure is to do another test.

You missed a pill and had unprotected sex? In which case it's pretty possible that you are pregnant. To be fair, I would have thought people using the pill would know that not taking it and having unprotected sex might lead to it not working as a form of contraception.

She is 16!

My DD not the op....realised that was ambiguous with the posts above.

I didn't come here for people to be rude to me, I know that missing the pill can result in pregnancy. It's more the fact I had a negative and surely if I'm being sick then I'd be more than a couple of weeks along so i thought a test would pick that up at this time. I was asking for advice based on the symptoms and the fact I had a negative before.

I'm not 16, I'm 22.

plus the fact I've not had a period in a few years I didn't know whether it'd be possible

Nobody said you were 16. PP said their daughter was conceived on the mini pill and is now 16

dementedpixie · 02/01/2019 18:00

You ovulate a couple of weeks before having a period so you could ovulate and it could get fertilised without needing to have a period

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/01/2019 18:03

Yes, aged 39. Ds1 was 9 months old. I'd had sex once since his birth. It had taken 2.5yrs to conceive him so I was somewhat surprised!

dementedpixie · 02/01/2019 18:03

You took a test only a few days after unprotected sex so there would not have been time for the pregnancy hormone to build up to a level to be detected

elliejjtiny · 02/01/2019 18:05

Yes it's very possible. Although your symptoms could be caused by the hormones from the mini pill.

I conceived 3 times on the mini pill but I have a medical condition that causes it not to work properly. I didn't know it at the time though and neither did the gp.

DS took 8 months to conceive after coming off depo. (Periods returned after 2 months).

DD was conceived the day after i stopped taking cerazette.

DS took 4 months after coming off cerelle.

It's possible you are.. but i was told that it takes a while for fertility to come back after depo.
