Formula feeding which brand

Probably a silly post and I'm over thinking it but what milk, formula, is best to go with? 5 years ago we went with Aptamil and planned to go the same way with this one but have seen alot of bad press surrounding it recently with the changed ingredients. I know people say get what is in stock in your local store but we've got 3 supermarkets close so they have the usual brands. We were lucky that DD took to Aptamil so didn't have the faffing around of changing brands etc. Is there one brand better then the other?

They're all really more or less the same, although some babies do seem to tolerate different brands better. I'd start with whatever is easily available and cheapest TBH and go from there.

I've been thinking the same as DD2 is due soon. We also went with Aptamil with DD1.

I was considering either SMA or Hipp organic, but leaning more towards SMA as you can get those ready made bottles, which are ideal to use whilst we're in the hospital.

We used cow and gate last time and this time plan to use Aldi mamia as its massively cheaper than the others. They’re all much of a muchness anyway!

Hi! Clueless soon to be 1st time mum sorry .... so if I plan to use premade when out and about / in hospital is it best to stick with a formula that also does a premade one for consistency..? Or would baby not notice..?

myotherbagisgucci · 02/01/2019 16:59

@Teaandbiscuits90 my DD1 was very fussy with her milk brand and temperature. She wouldn't take ready made whilst we were out and about, so we had to take two flasks one with boiling water and one with cooled boiled water to make up fresh, and we have a prep machine at home.

All babies are different though and some aren't bothered. I'm hoping that DD2 isn't as fussy! lol!

@myotherbagisgucci so best not to be over prepared then!! Seeing all great things about the prep machines so I’ll definitely be investing in one of those, and hoping baby gets on with Aldi formula 😂

Thank you :) that does sound like hassle tbf!

Haha I'm thinking the same DD 1 was so easy, we brought powder but ended up using the pre made milk just out of convenience but got stupidly expensive she was such a greedy baby. She'd take it hot or cold too. I plan on getting a ready made pack for the hospital with the brand I plan on using and then swapping to powder when I get home. Hopefully this one won't be a fussy baby!
