Am I right in thinking that a pregnancy test only shows a positive reading upto a certain point in the pregnancy?
I'm sure I've read somewhere before about hcg levels and that after a certain stage a positive wouldn't show.
Can anyone enlighten me with the science of it or have I just completely made that up x

Pregnancy tests are designed to detect a certain range of hcg. Around the 8 or so week mark many people experience the 'hook effect' where they are quite pregnant, but get bfn.

The way to combat this is to dilute your wee (half water, half wee should do the trick).
