So do back ground
I already have a 1.5 year old DS , great partner private rent our home and I recently got a great new job and partner got promotion. Everything looking up recently and our mental health has followed suit - however there are still many things we want to do : learn to drive (we are in our very early twenties)
Get a mortgage and later on be married.
I would like another child in the future DP isn't as keen (mainly for money )

It's been 35 days since my last period. Partner and I use condoms every time without fail. I took a test 5 days ago it came back negative however it was around 4pm when I took it
I'm so nervous I'm in a happy place right now and another baby might throw everything sideways but at the same time I'd love a brother or sister for my son

Does anyone know of any other reason I could be this late ? Did anyone else find themselves in a situation like me and manage to work through it ?
Just don't know what to do

Take another test.

You could have ovulated late, unless you really track ovulation. It could be a anovulatory cycle so you may miss a period. Stress won't help, and sometimes a change in routine (Christmas) can mess with a cycle.

I'm sure someone sensible will be along soon to advise. You should retake a test in the morning, but my understanding of why it is in the morning is that that is when your urine is most concentrated. So the test picks up hcg even if levels aren't too high. However at 35 days late your hcg should be pretty high if pregnant As it doubles in concentration daily in the beginning. So it may be you aren't pregnant.

Stress, weight loss , randomness etc can all cause a missed period too.

mortifiedmama · 01/01/2019 23:11

If you are 35 days late then a test would definitely show. I suspect it's a anovulatory cycle.

physicskate · 02/01/2019 07:46

Flow is only as good as the data you input - it isn't plugged into your body. If you don't temp and/or opk it is literally guessing based on your average.

My vote is for an anovulatory cycle, which is not at all uncommon (even if rare for you).

Karigan195 · 02/01/2019 07:53

Um at 35 days late if you have high hcg it may not show due to the hook effect. If you’re worried get a private well woman scan and they will take a look inside. You could try going to a dr but when I had a similar situation they said that they didn’t worry about a missing period for 6 months.

In my case btw I was pregnant. The scan confirmed it but the egg stopped developing early and I had low hcg. I miscarried naturally at 7 weeks after a scan at 6 weeks showed a 4 week something embryo.

Karigan195 · 02/01/2019 07:55

Hook effect is that tests are only designed for hcg levels for up to around 8ish weeks as I understand it so high hcg due to testing at a late stage or something like twins won’t show as a positive

I'd make an appointment with your GP so they can do a blood test and see what is going on. Sometimes when you are further along pregnancy tests don't work because the hormone levels are too high.

jessstan2 · 02/01/2019 08:17

We all know and are taught that accidents happen but, honestly, if you are using condoms with no sign of it either bursting or slipping
off, what is the likelihood of you being pregnant? I doubt very much if you are & if your partner isn't keen at the moment, that is a good thing.

35 days is nothing for a of of people.

It sounds as though you have a good life as it is, enjoy it! Stop worrying about pregnancy for now. You are fortunate.

Happy new year to you - Flowers Wine bless you all. May 2019 be a great year for all of you.

Thanks for all of your replies and encouragement

I think I'll re test and if nothing is there again just speak to my gp and see what they suggest

Happy new year to you all ❤️
