Hi All, I know none of you can really say for sure what happened but a bit of input/ comfort would be greatly appreciated. So new years eve was going well watching film with the OH and then I decide to visit the ladies, upon wiping I notice two spats of bright red blood followed by watery pink blood :( of course I went to the A&E who couldn't really tell me much and booked me in for a scan tomorrow. The pink stuff continued for about 6 hours ( only noticeable when wiping) and has now stopped, this was all acompanied with light cramping too. Has anyone else gone through this ? I've kept myself awake all night sick with worry, we've waited 8 years for this little one to arrive and the fact that I saw their little toes and beating heart on a scan last Saturday will make my heart break even more if the worse comes to the worse :(

I had something like this it was called something like an irritated cervix. It was fine.

Hi @Mumsy89,

Sorry you're going through this. I had brown bleeding for a week after a good scan at 12 weeks. I was so scared, but it was all ok, they couldn't find a reason for the bleed.
I think it's a good sign that it's pink and stopped and hopefully that'll be good news at your scan tomorrow.
Hoping today goes super quick for you...xx

MagicalCreatures · 01/01/2019 12:14

Just to try and provide some reassurance, I had exactly the same 2 days before my 12 week Scan after seeing a heartbeat at 6 and 9 weeks.
Everything was fine.
I then had more light brown spotting at 15 weeks and then a bright red, fairly heavy bleed at 21 weeks.
Then more spotting after 34 weeks which has been caused by cervical erosion (just a change in hormones).
I’m now 4 days overdue.
Wishing you all the best x

Thanks for your comments, tomorrow can't come quick enough, at least then I'll have immence relief or closure xx

Hi @Mumsy89, I had an episode of bleeding just after 12 weeks (a couple of days before my scan) along with cramping and backache. The cramping and the backache was what made me go to the loo to check for bleeding in the first instance. Went for my 12 week scan an absolute bag of nerves but all was ok. Had another very similar bleed a week later and I wasn’t quite as worried but still a bit nervy so was sent for another scan that day and all was fine again.

Have you had a scan yet OP?

Iswallowtoothpaste · 01/01/2019 15:10

Sorry OP have just read that you’ve already had a positive scan. That’s a really good sign, especially at this stage!

Mumsy89 · 01/01/2019 15:12

Hi @Iswallowtoothpaste, yep I went for a private dating scan last Wednesday and little one was jumping around with a heartbeat of 155bpm. I've still not had any further bleeding today so hoping the worst had passed and i am just being overly anxious xx

I had this during my 12 week scan, so was lucky in that I already knew all was fine. Sonographer couldn't find an explanation for it, just my cervix being a bit of an arse I think.

shivbo2014 · 01/01/2019 19:08

Im 12 weeks had some spotting on and off for 2 weeks. Ive been told i have a subchronic hematona but it is nothing to worry about have had 2 scans and all is fine. So maybe the same thing...

Mumsy89 · 01/01/2019 19:16

Ahh today seems to be dragging. 19 hours to go Angry. Thank you for your reassuring stories ladies xxx

Hey, sorry you're going through this. Just wanted to chip in to say, with my 1st one, I had a lot of bleeding at around 12 weeks (like a heavy period) which continued on and off for a few weeks. It was horrible, the doctors couldn't say for sure what was causing it or whether it would be Ok, just that I had to rest lots and every week I didn't lose it the chances improved and that by 19 weeks I was out of the danger zone... happily, that was exactly what happened and I went on to have an otherwise uneventful pregnancy finishing with a full term healthy baby. I hope very much that you have the same outcome.

Most likely, so they said, it was something to do with the placenta forming too low then gradually migrating up to a better position and shedding the excess material.

The main thing I learned from the experience is how common it is to have unexplained bleeding at around this stage in pregnancy and still for everything to be fine. It's not something people often tell you, but when it happened to me, lots of people I knew told me they'd had it/knew someone who'd had it too.

Good luck tomorrow, I hope you're fine. Xxx

Also had bleeding with a happy ending well currently 21 weeks and can feel baby wriggling around i had an extra chronicic hemorrage attached to sac, had a gigantic bleed with clots at 9 weeks, 12 and 14. Bright red and with clots I was positive I'd lost baby (had 2 previous losses and knew what it looked like) but baby is still in there and bleed has now gone thank god. Fingers crossed for you it's so scary. Love xx

Nightlights · 01/01/2019 19:57

Just to add I had a bleed at 13 weeks and, thankfully, a reassuring scan afterwards. But I have spent rest of pregnancy dreading a reoccurrence. This hasn't happened. Midwives were v blase and said bleeds happen all the time, it's really common. I didn't know this and assumed a bleed meant the worst. Hope this reassures you a bit and all turns out well for you Thanks

Mumsy89 · 01/01/2019 20:17

I had a bleed previously at 6 weeks, strangely enough I wasn't as freaked out about that. 1. Because I could put it down to implantation bleeding and 2. Because it was only pink, no bright red blood. Ive been constantly checking when I've been going to the loo and there doesn't appear to have been anything at all today, apart from s few stretchy pains in my pelvic/groin area 🤔

I bleed right up till 5 months, they couldn’t explain it. I also had 2 miscarriage up to that. My son was born fit and healthy.

MagicalCreatures · 02/01/2019 12:56

@Mumsy89 thinking of you. Hoping you get good news x

Mumsy89 · 02/01/2019 14:33

Hi All, just wanted to give an update, baby its absolutely fine 😁😁 they couldn't see an obvious reason for the bleed so put it down to an irritated cervix, over the moon doesn't even cut it !!! Thank you all for your comments and reassurances xxx

Great news, congratulations

annlee3817 · 02/01/2019 19:39

Great news! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes great

Iswallowtoothpaste · 02/01/2019 19:40

Yay! So relieved for you OP

willdoitinaminute · 02/01/2019 19:57

Congratulations.
I too had massive bleed at 13 weeks a couple of hours after having nucal fold scan (private). Followed by a sleepless night. A further scan a couple of days showed healthy baby but also a blood clot well away from the placenta. They told me to expect further bleeding ( mainly old blood) and it finally stopped around 20 weeks. I had no other symptoms and having had a number of miscarriages I knew the signs. My midwife found a heartbeat at 14 weeks and because I was on 2 week checks it was a great relief hearing the heartbeat regularly.
That was all 14 years ago, and much wanted baby is now nearly 6ft tall and as fit as a fiddle.
I think there is a high incidence of bleeding in the first trimester that goes unreported. As you can see from the PP you are not alone.
Best wishes and hope you have an uneventful pregnancy with a healthy baby in a few months.
