First Pregnancy - When did you feel baby move?

Hi guys.

I am a worrier due to previous MC and MMC so just wondering in your first pregnancy (I will call this pregnancy first as it’s the further I have ever got) when did you feel the baby move or be able to identify the movements?

I am currently 17+6 with a postieror placenta and on every scan I have had he has been a proper wriggler moving around etc but I haven’t been able to feel anything. One of my friends is pregnant and due the same time as me and she has said she is feeling movement already and has had ‘flutters’ but I don’t even think I have had that? I guess I just want to be able to feel him move so I know he’s ok.

I have an anterior placenta so slightly different but didn’t feel any flutters until 22 weeks and actual movements not til nearer 28.
A friend who is due just after me with a posterior placenta felt baby move around 20 weeks. I know it’s an anxious time but everyone is different x

cookiesaurus · 31/12/2018 09:17

I didn't have an anterior placenta but still didn't feel the baby move until 22-23 weeks. I was desperate to feel it, then when it came felt the baby move loads from then on!!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 31/12/2018 09:21

In retrospect at about 17/18 weeks I felt something but that has no bearing on your own pregnancy. “Flutters” didn’t describe what I felt anyway - it was more like a tiny muscle twitch (like you might get in your leg) on the inside

Kayleigh121 · 31/12/2018 09:37

Thank you for your replies made me feel a whole lot better! @HerSymphonyAndSong that sounds exactly like what I have felt in the last couple of days but I literally just thought it probably was a mucsle twitch so thought nothing of it!x

That may well be it, which would be lovely - but don’t get into a panic if you don’t feel it regularly - it’s still far too soon for movement to be much indication of what’s going on.

TheArtfulScreamer · 31/12/2018 10:01

I've a posterior placenta and didn't feel what I could recognise as movement until 19 weeks and mine felt like little pulses or twitches like hersymphony describes. I'm now 29 weeks and feel plenty of movement and on Christmas Eve I was jabbed that hard I jumped Grin

Hi everyone
I'm new to this site and found the comments really helpful.
I am 20 weeks today and i have felt flutters for the past two weeks everyday. Yesterday and today i haven't felt anything! Is this normal?

Angelmiracle · 31/12/2018 13:02

My first I felt movement at 18 weeks but didn't catch on that's what it was until near 20! Felt like indigestion!

Yes baby can turn in towards your back so all kicks etc you wouldn't feel. This happened me at 24 weeks but luckily had MW check few days later and could hear strong HB.

Stephisaur · 31/12/2018 13:47

I had a posterior placenta and felt movements at 19 weeks.

It felt like a finger tapping me from the inside.

xJune88 · 31/12/2018 13:51

Currently 21 weeks pregnant and have felt movements since week 18 only small nudges and not sure it was baby but as the days passed and it got more frequent I was sure it was baby. I now feel her every day but movement varies from crazy to barely anything xx

Mikewazowskismrs · 31/12/2018 14:19

I’m 19 + 4 with posterior placenta and haven’t felt anything yet that I’m aware of!

Iswallowtoothpaste · 31/12/2018 14:26

You’re the exact same gestation as me! With my DD I think I felt very vague movement at 17 weeks - little wriggles. I remember going for my 20 week scan and DD kicking the ultrasound probe and the sonographer asking if I could feel it and funnily enough, I couldn’t! It was very sporadic!

I have an anterior placenta this time and I’m feeling the odd movement but nothing definite and could easily be wind!! I’m also not anywhere near as slim as I was when pregnant with DD!

Anniie18 · 31/12/2018 16:10

These posts have really helped. Thank you.

user1467718508 · 31/12/2018 16:12

I'm 19+4 with anterior and have only felt very slight flytterings, which I couldn't say with any certainty are the baby.

I'm a worrier (currently obsessively Googling incarcerated uterus symptoms 🙈) so will be very relieved to feel more definitive kicks.

user1467718508 · 31/12/2018 16:18

@Mikewazowskismrs - same DD! Grin

Hope you're all feeling happy and rested this NYE.

I can confidently say I'll be maintaining my strong hold position on the sofa, in PJs of courseBrew...maybe with some Outlander.

Enjoy your respective evenings, however you spend them!

MrsG8 · 31/12/2018 16:29

Took me ages! I was gone 24 weeks when I started to feel a few small movements. Was closer to 30 weeks before I felt bigger movements Smile

MissMoodyMoo · 31/12/2018 16:47

I never felt baby move or kick until 28w! But even now she doesn't kick she just does full on turns

Unicorn234 · 31/12/2018 19:31

@Kayleigh121 I'm currently 24+6 and I first felt my baby at just before 20 weeks. I also have a posterior placenta and my little boy is also a wriggle on the scans. So fingers crossed it will happen for you soon 😊 I have noticed the bigger he's getting, he doesn't move around as much.
However as PP said everyone is different, my cousin didn't feel her first baby until 25 weeks xx

Squiff70 · 31/12/2018 20:22

I'm 19 weeks with twins and haven't felt my babies move yet. Relax, your little one will be booting you soon enough :)

Melamine · 31/12/2018 20:40

About 19.5 weeks for me. I apparently have a fundal placenta (at the top)!

Melamine · 31/12/2018 20:40

And they were tiny twitches too, not flutters or pops like most people describe

Clementine19 · 31/12/2018 20:41

18-19 weeks. Lucky you, getting to experience it for the first time!

b4dmum · 01/01/2019 09:29

Started feeling flutters at 15 weeks and kicks at 19.

Hiphopopotamous · 01/01/2019 09:58

I think properly around 20w but it's not "kicking" like when you get to 30w, it's more fluttering which is quite subtle. It was probably happening earlier but put down to bowel moving etc.

Kayleigh121 · 01/01/2019 20:13

Thank you so much for all of your comments. Appreciate them all I’m just really impatient lol!
